Advantages: a way to send payment to US for a minimal charge Disadvantages: none I am aware of
My first purchase on Ebay led me straight into trouble because the seller would not accept credit card payments either directly or through PayPal. The only options open to someone from the UK were to send cash or a money order to the US. I was not happy about sending dollar bills in an envelope. The cost of a money order from my friendly high street bank was £15 - absurd since my total purchase came to about £12. I was despairing when I found out ... ...BidPay service. Basically, you register with BidPay and instruct them to send a Western Union money order to any address in the United States. The fee for this is $5 (about £3). I found the registration process painless. Within minutes, I received confirmation of my registration. At the same time, a message was sent to my US seller informing them that a money order would be sent. In the case of auction sales, BidPay visit the auction site to verify ...

Advantages: Easy, cheap, good customer service Disadvantages: Money orders not available in sterling
Bidpay.com is one, if not the best 'pay-for-your-auction' site. It can really only be compared to the Amazon.com Payment system, simply because of the flexibility for us the 'international' bidders.
Bidpay costs $5 (approx £3) per transaction, and is brilliant if you are paying for a valuable item and do not want to bother with cash (easily lost/stolen or just never arrives (!) at the seller), going to get a money order from the post office which ... ...Bidpay seems to be more aimed at the medium range buyer, between £15-£75.
Bidpay works by charging your credit card the amount you agree with the seller, then sends them a money order for that amount. Bidpay also sends confirmation emails to the seller and the buyer. This means that you get your item faster as Bidpay guarantees payment.
Apparently, there is soon to be a service where international sellers, i.e., generally based outside of the US, ...

...money-orders in US dollars, then BidPay.com will likely provide the answer.
Once you sign up with BidPay.com, you can send money orders at the press of a button. You just need to give them the details (how much the MO is for, where to send it, the auction site, item number etc), and they'll handle it on your behalf, charging the money order (plus a $5 - or £3 - charge) to your credit card. This is infinitely useful, and really quick. Often, once ... ...will ship your item straight away. Since buying foreign currency usually costs about £3 anyway, you're actually saving money most of the time. I've used BidPay dozens of times, and have not had any problems whatsoever. Their Website may not look very professional, but they get the job done. Excellent. ...

I tried twice to through BidPay to pay for an item I won on Ebay, and both times these idiots managed to place the funds on hold at my bank and then denied my order for reasons they would not disclose. All they would say was that "some information did not match up." To top it off, it took them over a day just to approve/deny the purchase. I have already filed a complaint with the U.S. government's Federal Trade Commission, and hopefully if enough ...

Advantages: Easy solution for sending money orders to the USA Disadvantages: Annoying site and inconsistant service
I frequently use a site called Furbid (Anthropomorphic, Sci-Fi and Fantasy Auctions) and while BidPay seems to present the ideal solution for sending money orders to the USA - in my experience, it's the only service filling this niche - it causes me nothing but problems.
BidPay is an online auction payment site which allows buyers to purchase money orders to pay their seller - BidPay mails off the money order for you. The advantage of this is that ... ...merely a postal address. This makes it an excellent idea for UK auction buyers to pay US sellers by money order when they don't accept PayPal. At least, that's the idea anyway.
The BidPay site is poorly designed, and the payment form doesn't function correctly to enter auction site: Other. All payments have to be verified as it will ONLY work for auction payments - and it's taken me 2 attempts to get one payment through (you need to squeeze as much ...
