Advantages: free email that rewards you Disadvantages: rewards are American orientated and limited
I found BIRDMAIL by chance and was reluctant to even visit the site as I thought it sounded a bit too much like a porn email service! Lucky for me I did visit and I can assure you it is one hundred percent clean!
I first signed up to this free email service because I was sick of receiving vast quantities of junk mail in my hotmail account! Some days it seemed as if my hotmail inbox was being flooded by mortgage offers and porn links! ... ...free stuff and reward schemes! This keeps my personal account free from such clutter!
The basic philosophy behind BIRDMAIL is that an IT student in the States got so fed up with having different email accounts during college term time and holidays that he created his own roaming email account much like hotmail! I first signed up to this free email service because I was sick of receiving vast quantities of junk mail in my hotmail account! Some days it seemed as if my hotmail inbox was being flooded by mortgage offers and porn links! I now use my BIRDMAIL account for signing up for free stuff and reward schemes! This keeps my personal account free from such clutter!
The basic philosophy behind BIRDMAIL is that an IT student in the States got so fed up with having different email accounts during college term time and holidays that he created his own roaming email account much like hotmail! I have being using my account for about 6-8 months now and I have never experienced any problems with messages going astray.
The site is very easy to navigate and as fast if not faster than hotmail on most occasions! One minor problem is that because it’s American, if they do any server upgrades they do it during our daytime (American night-time!) though this has only happened the once in the time I have been using it.
You have to register much the same as Hotmail and your address will be username@birdmail.com. The added bonus over and above Hotmail is that you earn birdmail points for using your account! So you get a free email service but one that rewards you as well! You are rewarded for being logged in and generally using the service. As well as email you also have a notepad to write reminders for yourself and an online calendar to keep up to speed with important dates and birthdays!
There are adverts on the web page itself (not in the email you send) and you receive rewards on the basis of the number of these adverts displayed to you! So, the more often you check your email the more points you receive. There is a daily limit to stop abuse but generally unless you are deliberately just using the service to earn point you won’t necessarily reach the limit!
You can also earn rewards for signing up to new programs and trying services online. In effect, BIRDMAIL is trying to emulate MyPoints. I have no experience with this part of the scheme - but the rewards look potentially worthwhile.
If you, however, fancy trying your luck then you can also win points by entering the BIRDMAIL treasure hunt game! Whereby a picture is divided into hundred of little squares behind some of which there are reward points hidden! This is quite time consuming but if you invest just a little time, you can win several hundred points a day! The picture seems to change fairly frequently and you can even try to have your own picture used as the “map”.
I currently have over 30,000 points! That might seem like a lot but this won’t get you very much! You need literally hundreds of thousands to collect the bigger better prizes. You can donate to charity and claim small prizes like pre-paid phone cards but postage is to American addresses only! I would therefore not recommend this service as a means of getting freebies because it simply isn’t worth it unless of course you actually live in America!
I use this account purely because of the excellent email service and any rewards I get I give to an American friend to redeem free phone cards! The email service alone is good enough for me!
Up until today I have no complaints but today the site seems to be extremely slow! This is unusual so don’t be put off by this. Otherwise I recommend this product to anyone with internet access that want yet another email account! This is as good as Hotmail and you don’t get as much junk!
Advantages: Rewards of using the email service. Disadvantages: It cannot be accessed now.
Birdmail.com formerly was a good free email. I say so because I can read or send emails though I was using a low bandwidth internet connection in Indonesia. It has been about three or four months that the bird flies my emails away. I cannot login now. After typing WWW.BIRDMAIL.COM, the screen shows the first page of the email. However after entering my user name and password, the screen shows an error message, INTERNAL ERROR.
I do not why it happens. ... ...about the problem I faced. They told me that they also had the problem as I was having.
Where and how my emails now ? How if there is an important email for me telling me that I won a lottery ? It is only my immagination of winning a lottery.
Hence we must be careful choosing a free email service. It is a nice experience. Oh my bird, please return to your nest. ...
