Advantages The site itself is great, it offer agood choice of titles
Disadvantages dishonesty, hidden costs, lack of communication
There is one thing that really upsets me, when they let a good thing crumble and waste.
I had been using Blackstar for an age (well in internet shopping years it is), it must be well over 2 years now. I was a loyal and regular shopper, I found it great for Christmas and gift shopping. I have spend many a hard earned penny on there site on both goodies for me and gifts for others.My addiction with the site started when i became a crazed Buffy fan and in the days when Buffy box sets were hard to come by in most conventional video shops, you could trust Blackstar to have them in stock and much cheaper then elsewhere too.
20% discounts off pre-orders was a fantastic idea, which i used quite frequently.However, things have started to turn and i feel they are getting a little greedy.
In march I ordered a copy of Deep Rising on VHS for a gift, it wasn't in stock so they said it would be ship as soon as they had more. Well i have to say i forgot about it, i had been on my holidays to Brussels and forgot about by the time i returned. It has now come to that Christmas Shopping time again and i had logged back in ready to shop. I looked at my details and noticed that Deep Rising was down as shipped!!, which was funny since i had not recieved it. so i sent an email explianing that i had not recieved the video. They were prompt in there reply, but it turns out that the post office had returned the package to them, but they didn't inform me or refund me, if i hadn't of notice by chance, they would still be clutching my money and laughing. They have now agreed to send me my copy (I want it on principle), and they haven't charged me for the shipping (oh how kind).But they say better the Devil you know and i have place an order, to see what happens this time. Who knows maybe they will regain my trust.... we shall see.
I do think it is sad that they have started hidding shipping costs, they used to be so honest and reliable.On a good note the site it great, its easy to navigate and they have an excellent selection of titles.
It might just be me who has had a bad experience, but i would be intrested to find out if anyone else has had a similar problem.

I started using Blackstar for Buffy Boxsets too but i haven't ordered anything from them for a while. Sory to hear that they're going down hill. Great op though! - Sarah
