Advantages It's free, and better for the environment
Disadvantages none
www.bluemountain.com is a site dedicated to e-cards for more or less every occasion imaginable! You can send the most obvious ones like birthday, anniversary and wedding cards. And every month, there is a day dedicated to something or other, ie, no smoking day, and cards for all different religions and festivals. You can also send cards just to say 'hi' and 'thinking of you'. It's completely free, and no money is asked of you.
Each card is musical, and you can personalize the card with your own message. You don't have to send the card on that day. You can choose a date to send it. Bluemountain will send you a copy of the card (although by unticking the box, you don't need to receive this), and if you choose to, you can also be known when the recepient picks up the card. With each card you fill in the recipients name and email address, and your name and email address. There is no need to register with bluemountain, but if you wish, you can register and you will have the added bonus of an address book. This can be helpful as you will be reminded of any forthcoming events like birthdays.
Not only is this cheaper than buying cards and posting them, it also helps the environment and rainforest as you are cutting down on the amount of paper you use. I now send all my cards through Bluemountain to those who have email addresses!Bluemountain is part of the 'Excite' team. It's constantly being updated, and will find new cards all the time. This is a brilliant site, and I am now constantly using this site for my cards.
