hi guys i'm sorry to say Bluemountain.com is not free anymore and the cheeky website makers now charge you to send e-cards. so this opinion does not hold!
sorry

Come on and send me an e-card... its free!I first discovered bluemountain about 3 years a go, when my friend sent me my first animated e- card. This was a cute card with a simple message. The purpose? Just to say Hi!

I thought this was a wonderful idea at the time and still do, instead of sending a plain, short email saying, ‘How are you?’ you can send an animated-card to a person, with a picture, which maybe animated, a short greeting and an optional message from yourself.

An e-card is extremely simple to send. First you got to the website, www.bluemountain.com, you then choose the category of your card, e.g. birthday, congrats, invitation, hello, thank you etc… Once you have you have made your choice you will be presented with a new window displaying a selection of different cards under that category. By clicking on the picture, you can choose the card, which you would like to send, with a greeting, picture or animated cartoon clip of your preference.

Once you have previewed your card, you then opt for the option “ Send this Card”. You will now be presented with several boxes to enter. Firstly, the recipient’s name, e.g. 'Birthday Girl' then the recipient's address e.g. 'birthday@girl.com.' Bluemountain now has the option of sending cards to multiple people, allowing you to send the same card to many of your friends. It also can store you friends’ addresses in a private address book, which can save you entering several addresses each time.
After this you enter your (the sender’s) details e.g. Kopal and kopal5@hotmail.com. You now have the option to change the your selected greeting and also add another message.
Once all the boxes are filled, the card can be previewed before you send it. This is very useful as you have the ability to change any details, having errors, before finally sending the card

After all checks have been made, a date of when the card is to be delivered can be set, this can be either immediately or after several months. This is an extremely practical feature as you can send you card early than necessary and not worry nearer the time that you forgot to send a card.
Two more options are now given, which are 'to send a copy of the card' to your mailbox, and ‘be notified’ when your addressee views the card. This is another super feature where you receive a short email as soon as your ‘friend’ views their card, allowing you to a huge sigh knowing your card has been sent and seen and not lost in the post.
The whole process of sending a card takes less than 5 minutes.

The card that you have sent comes in the form of an email, in your friend’s inbox. All your friend has to do is click on the link in the mail to view their wonderful card, which last up to 30 days! Simple, right?

Bluemountain has advanced so much since I first used it and there are plenty of new features which I keep coming up across, here are a few.

Oh it's such a shame it's not free anymore, though unsurprising!
