At first glance it is similar to Amazon with the exception of the colour. The ubiquitous editors choice, which ... Read review
Advantages: none at all?? - cheap books - if they arrive Disadvantages: bad service, long delivery, no refunds in some cases
If you type BOL into Google it brings up, BOL - the nicest way to buy books!! BOLlocks!!!! Its the most difficult way to buy books!!
Books Online is a subsidiary company of World Books, who I reviewed some time ago as I had terrible problems with them. I vowed never to use them again.
I was tempted a few weeks ago by a special offer BOL had on Jordan's book - Being Jordan by Katie Price, so I decided to order that book and another one.
I was originally ... ...The website is well laid out and looks a little like Amazon. There is a login facility to be able to check your account and orders. There are sections for:

Advantages: Hmmm....I am so unhappy with them I can no longer think of any. Disadvantages: Appalling customer support. The worst I have ever experienced.
...Have told all my friends how trashy BOL.COM are and hopefully loads of people will read this.
So hopefully you will understand why i am marking them low in every section. Coz at the final reckoning...if you dont get yer books or yer money...its all a waste of time. ...

Advantages: Cheap prices, good discounts, fast reply to e-mails Disadvantages: Takes a long time to deliver, packaging is not very good, credit card is debited before the books are dispatched.
I won't go into the details of the registration process since there are many other reviews detailing them. Therefore, I'll only write about my experiences. Sometime during Christmas, I was looking for The Bourne Trilogy on various online retailers because the hardback copy is rather expensive in shops. After some research, I concluded that Amazon, Play and BOL offer the best prices in town. BOL is also quite easy to navigate, especially with the ... ...well, and there is a tracking function in my account control panel. When I ran a quick comparison, it appears that BOL has the best price (60% discount as opposed to Play's 20% discount). At the time, BOL was also having a New Year's promotion where all posting and packing charges are waived. Finding the offer hard to resist, I placed by order on the 1st of January. My credit card was debited with the correct amount on the 3rd of January, but my ...

Advantages: Price Disadvantages: Book never arrived, neither did refund!
Decided to purchase a book for my mother, so headed over to bol after seeing there cheap prices. Although it meant signing up to their bookclub, I didn't mind because the prices did look reasonable. This was back in October, and I have still not received a book or any money - it's now January. I've emailed & telephone countless times and rarely even get a reply. On the times I did get to speak to somebody I was promised a refund within the week - ... ...implementing a new warehouse system.
I hope this is a one off, but just thought i'd warn people how reluctant they are to help you once they've got their money. Ordered from amazon a month later and got the book within 2 days.
To sum up - other people may fare better, but I will certainly not be ordering again from this book club, who appear to use some sort of shared customer services centre who cannot actually help at all. ...

Joined Bol via GreasyPalm.co.uk.
