Boots.com
Background to the company.
Boots.com is the official website of the famous high street chemist store Boots. They are actually the largest chemist retailer in Europe now, and certainly are the most recognised high street chain within the UK. Everyone knows who Boots are! They ... Read review
Advantages: none Disadvantages: won't recognise correct address, oor allow user to edit it
Their website is entirely useless for me.
It asks for your postcode and house number. I put those in and then it automatically 'suggests' an address -- the wrong one. It says the street name is actually the road that leads to the road I need to send my purchases to.
This is not uncommon. Amazon and others do the same. The difference, with Amazon and everyone else is that the 'suggestions' are just that: they all allow you to edit them; or add extra ... ...a note to the postman/woman; to make sure the goods get to the right person. Not Boots. Oh, no. They assume their system is infalliable.
It isn't, and so, I can neither use it, nor will I trust such an arrogant trust-the-systems-not-the-customer company with my purchses even if they fix this glaring fault with their 'systems' in future. A fault that they know exists and have still not fixed, by the way, because I called them to explain and they ...

Advantages: Easy to place orders Disadvantages: Not responsive to customer complaints
I'm a great fan of internet shopping - it's great for those of us who hate braving the crowded shops at lunchtimes, queuing for ages, going to buy something specific and not finding it and feeling annoyed that you've wasted a big part of your lunch break. Boots is one of those shops where I tend to do most of my cosmetics and beauty product shopping. When I found out several years back that Boots had an online site, I was pretty much over the moon ... ...fact that I could browse the online store from the comfort of my own home and order at my leisure and that all I would then have to do is wait for my items to be delivered. '''THE SITE'''
On entering the site, there's a familiar feel about it. At the top left side of the screen is the Boots logo and the text and background is mostly blue and white with some headings in dark green and photos of items in full colour. I won't give you a blow by blow ...

Advantages: Not having to leave home to shop, paying with paypal Disadvantages: Everything else
I use boots.com because I can pay with Paypal from monies earned on eBay and collect Advantage points at the same time. But those are the only reasons for putting up with such a cumbersome, lumbering, slow, poorly designed website. I know they have a lot of product lines to manage, but if supermarkets can manage user-friendly online shopping then Boots should be able to too. It is hard not to rant about this site, but I shall try to contain myself; ... ...navigation is flakey, the search function very unreliable and pages frequently fail to display properly. If it's because I'm an Apple user browsing via Firefox then that's cause for further ranting. Once the goods arrive the disappointment continues; poor packaging and everything covered in sticky labels and stock control tags. Not such a nuisance on boxes of plasters, but a bit off-putting slapped all over your favourite beauty products. Will I ...

Advantages: the ability to browse before you buy Disadvantages: They dont care about you once they have your money
This christmas i saw boots.co.uk had free delivery and thought i would take advantage of this as I shop in boots quite often. Boy i wish i hadnt. For a large chain of stores I have never seen such a poorly layed out website. It constantly crashed, the shopping basket does not seem to like you actually buying stuff, and if they do actually let you buy from them they wont add on vouchers or give you any boots advantage points. Once i had finally orderd ... ...getting nearer and nearer and there was no sign of my gifts, i decided to give them a call, they seemed to be unconcerned and assured me that the gifts would arrive before christmas. Two days before Christmas i ring again, they tell me they have not even posted it. Next time I am just going to go into the store! ...

Quick review of boots.co.uk
Yes - I don't think Christmas is Boots' strong point either. I ordered a large photograph I needed to get framed as a gift in November. Instead I received somebody else's picture. I let them know, they said send it back to them - I did and that was the last I heard. Just a week until Christmas and I've still not received the photograph or had any response to an email asking what was happening their end. Try and get through to their customer services and you'll be lucky to peak with somebody. ...
