Firstly, I would like to mention that the new official address of the Boots site is www.boots.com, however, the site can still be accessed by typing boots.co.uk, or wellbeing.com.

Boots, for me, has always been the first place to look for cosmetics, toiletries, and gifts, and I have always felt that Boots is the best place for high quality and good value products, so it will come as no surprise to you that I love shopping online at boots.com.

The site loads extremely quickly, and I have never encountered any problems with it not loading properly, or with errors on the pages, as I have so often encountered with other sites.

The site is extremely well laid out, and the overall design of the site is bright and attractive without being too in-your-face.

The homepage holds a lot of links and information, and there’s not a lot of space goes unused, but it doesn’t look too cluttered, and it is easy to find the information you want.

Across the top of the page is a green section with the Boots logo, and the address of the site, with an advertisement banner in between the two. Under this is a lighter green section, which holds a search bar, and the links: Home, Help, Login, Register, My Basket, Shop Again, and Quick Shop, as well as a navigation bar which holds links to each of the different departments: Gift, Beauty, Baby, Healthcare, Men’s, and Offers. Each of the departments on the navigation bar has a small grey arrow next to it, which, when clicked, produces a drop down menu of each of the categories you can choose from within that department.

Down the side of the page is a ‘directory’, as it is headed, which has links split off into sections, under the headings: Diet & Fitness, In Beauty Today, In Baby Today, In Health Today, Other Departments, Boots Services, and Site Information.

On the main section of the page are pictures and details of special offers, split into different sections for BOGOF, 3 for 2, extra points, etc. Then the bottom half of this main section of the page is completely blank.

You are required to register with the site before making your first purchase, but the registration process is extremely easy. You simply need to enter your details, choose a password, and you will be registered and can login and start shopping. The site has been approved by Verisign as a secure site, so you don’t need to worry about anyone finding out your details.

The site is extremely easy to navigate, either by using the links and navigation bars, or by using the search bar to find exactly what you want.

Wherever you go on the site, the light green section with the links and navigation bar are always at the top of the page, so you can easily move around without having to go back all the time. Also, an extra section is added underneath this to show the page you’ve just come form, and the page you’re on now, so if you need to go back to something you looked at previously, it is extremely easy to do so without having to start over.

Whichever department you go into, you get a list of options down the left hand side of the page, showing the different categories within that department, and more about that department.

On the main section of the page, it shows featured items and special offers in the department.

At the top right of the main section of the page whilst shopping, is the shopping basket, which shows how many items are in your basket, and the total value of the items. There is an option to view the basket, which takes you to another screen. On this screen are displayed the items in your basket, prices, subtotal, and total. You have the options to change quantities, remove items form your basket, ask for items to be gift boxed, or you can choose to continue shopping. If you do not remove items from your basket, or buy them, before leaving the site, they will be saved in your basket for 20 days, so you don’t necessarily have to complete your order in one session.

When you are happy with your order, you simply click on Go To Checkout, and you are taken to another screen which shows the 3(or 4, if you haven’t already registered, the first will be register) step process, where you give details of where you want the goods delivered to, when you would like the good delivered, and how you want to pay. The process is easy to understand, but if you need help with anything, there is a link to the Help page, to the right of the page.

There are 3 delivery options, as follows:

1) Named day delivery between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday, 7am and 1pm Saturday. £2.95
2) Standard delivery within 5 working days between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday, £1.95
Standard delivery is currently free for orders over £30.
3) Next day delivery between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday. £4.95
Delivery is currently only available to UK addresses.

In my experience, deliveries have always been fast, and on time, and goods have arrived in perfect condition.

There is an order tracking facility on the site, so that you can find out where your order is if it's late.

Once you have shopped with boots.com for the first time, there are options available to make shopping quicker and easier in future. Shop Again allows you to view lists of previously ordered products, so you can choose to add a product form there instead of searching for it again, which is great if you have products that you buy regularly. Quick Shop allows you to order straight from a Boots Catalogue, by simply typing the products number.

You can also use your advantage card online, and any points collected on online purchases will be available the next time you use a Boots Advantage Point Machine.

The online store has a wide range of products, but not all products that can be found in a Boots store can be found online. However, there are often many things available online that cannot be found in most of Boots stores, so it works both ways really. As in Boots stores, the products range from cheap and cheerful, to extremely high quality products, and all at good value. There are always loads of offers on, so you’ll most likely save money every time you shop with them.

I cannot comment on the customer services, as i have
not yet had to contact them about anything, but i can only imagine that they will be as good as the rest of the site.

Overall, I am extremely happy with boots.com, and will continue to use the site for future purchases. It is definitely worth paying the postage, especially when you want to order a lot, as it saves you struggling with heavy bags. I would definitely recommend the site to anyone, especially people who like shopping in Boots stores.
