Crappy Affair! |
|---|
We too were treated appallingly by Canadian Affair's so called customer service!
We were due to emigrate to Canada in Dec 2005, and were at Gatwick airport, saying our goodbyes. My husband received a phone call from his sister to say that their mother had taken a turn for the worse (she was in hospital with leukaemia, but things had been looking good, hence why we were still flying out)
We took ourselves off the flight and didnt expect that money back, but we had paid 500 pounds for car hire, thru Crappy Affair, and were told that we couldnt have that transferred to the new dates when we would be flying out. ( in the meantime, my Mother in law sadly passed away, so we were having a very traumatic time.)
I too ended up in tears on the phone to the so called manager in London, and was told that there was nothign they could do!
And to add insult to injury, she suggested that we should have paid them 100 pounds for their travel insurance. I pointed out the very reason we didnt purchase their travel insurance was that my MIL had a pre-existing condition, which if we had tried to claim, the insurance would have been invalid due to that!
My sister called the car hire company direct in Calgary to find out if they had recieved payment from Crappy Affair and they said no, when car hire is cancelled they do not charge CA anything, and the guy even said that if we had booked direct with them, they would have gladly changed our dates and honoured our car hire, and couldnt believe how badly CA were treating us!
So the moral of the story is, if you want cheap flights, fine, but beware they have no morals and no customer service AT ALL!
And DO NOT book car hire or any additional service thru them, book direct with the Canadians as they are way more friendly and understanding in times of tragedy!
Will never use them again, and have told family and friends not to bother too
