Carsource.co.uk is basically a webiste for sourcing new and used cars accross the UK. I first was aware of this site by clicking for free points on mutualpoints.com, but never really had the use for it until recently when I was asked to help a friend purchase a car.
There once was a time when nearly all car purchases were made through publications such as Autotrader and Loot but the balance of power has shifted dramatically over the last few years towards web based search tools such as carsource.co.uk and it does not look to be abating. With this is mind, I sat down and used carsource.co.uk for the first time as a genuine search tool and not just as a way to earn free points.
The site.
The site itself is very comprehensive in options. You have the ability to primarily search new and used cars, sell your vehicle and even check the trade price of a vehicle, a great little tool when looking to sell your car. The layout of the site is user friendly if not a little overlaiden with adverts. A useful tip is turn on the pop-up blocker as these can get annoying. There are plenty of auto related companies to click on to via the sites home page and generally quite comprehensive in their diversity.
How it works
Where carsource scores very highly is the in the new and used car searching facilities. Once you decide to look up a new or used car you put in your postcode and decide whether to search locally, regionally or nationally and the option of entering your email address for alerts when the car you seek becomes available. You can narrow down your search in a number of ways by ticking various boxes that range from rear wash wipes to leather interior. Once you have submitted your requirements it performs a search showing results in column form allowing you to click on the ones that interest you. When you click through you are taken to the webpage always with contact details and nearly always with a picture.
Experience.
The searching was easy and comprehensive and I was satisfied with the number of results the searches provided. I contacted about 6 vehicles and only one had been sold, with the others still available. Made an appointment to see one with my friend and they bought the car! The advert was accurate and my friend was very happy with their purchase.
Conclusion
A very useful and comprehensive search tool for buying and selling your car. Easy to use, with a simple, if not crowded layout. Although I have not used the selling facility I did ask the seller of the purchased car how he found carsource.co.uk and he waxed lyrical about it, and I would never disbelieve a car salesman....... would you?!?!
Put the Autotrader down and log on to carsource.co.uk
