Full review
I used to get all my CD’s from CD-Wow however following the widely publicised court case that they lost the prices were forced up to a standard £8.99 for a chart CD. Once the competitive price advantage went so did my loyalty and it was while doing a search for alternative sites that I came across cd-jungle. Immediately I noticed that the majority of chart CD’s on its site were £7.99 and like cd-wow shipping was free.

Home Page

The site name is in the top left hand corner and an advertising banner, which changes regularly, is to the top left. The home page is really well set out and is very easy to view and understand.

Running down the centre are a number of cd covers showing the sites top sellers and new arrivals, each has the album title artist and price on display and to add any of these to your shopping cart you can either click on the “buy” button below each cd. By clicking on the actual album cover the full track listing for the album appears and also any special information relating to whether it is on import or a special edition.

On the right hand side of the page is listed the top 20 sellers and again clicking anywhere on the product title takes you to further information and a buy option.

On the left hand side there are the various search options where you can view different music categories to check on the full catalogue. You can either browse by artists, compilations, soundtracks or the top 50 or narrow the search by genre such as rock, country, jazz etc.

There is a free-type search option where you can type in the artist, title or song and search or select the advanced search to provide more options for your search. The search option is fast and you can tailor the number of selections that you view on a page by using the advanced search option.

Navigation

The search option makes navigation around the site easy. At the top of every page there are short cuts that can either take you back to the home page, to view your account, shopping cart or to a help section, which covers off the majority of questions regarding the site.

Security

When making your first order you are able to register on the site and your delivery details are captured. Your will decide on a user name and password to protect your identity. The payment site is processed by Worldpay, which provides additional security for your credit card details.

Ordering

This is very easy and quick and once you have selected your first purchase a box in the top right hand corner displays the number of items in the shopping cart and the value of these. By clicking on the “proceed to checkout” button you are taken to a secure payment area. If you have already registered you will be asked to sign in and you delivery details will appear. Once you confirm the purchase you are asked to select the payment option. All major credit cards are accepted and I like the fact that your payment details are not automatically displayed from previous purchases like some other sites.

Worldpay processes all payments and once the payment is authorised a message appears with an order number on it. You are advised to either print the page or record the number however I have always found this unnecessary as an e-mail from Worldpay and another from cd-jungle are sent to your in box almost immediately.

Post Sale Service

You are able to track your order through the website however an e-mail is sent to confirm that the item has been dispatched to you. Normally items will be dispatched to arrive within 3 to 5 days and I have found this to be the case even in the run up to Christmas.

On the one occasion when an item was delayed I was able to contact the site by e-mail and received an e-mail within 24 hours advising me of the reason for the delay. I then received another e-mal to confirm that I had received the item.

I cannot fault the service that I have received on any of the 15 to 20 purchases I have made through the site.

Packaging

All items come in a secure padded brown envelope and are in good condition.

Recommendation

This is a great site from which to purchase your chart CD’s. At £7.99 and postage free for most chart CD’s it represents great value and the special offers can reduce the price even more. With free delivery your order can be as small or large as you want.

If I had one criticism it is that the back catalogue is not very extensive, if you are revisiting your youth then you may have to look elsewhere.

Delivery is prompt and secure and the after sales service is great.
