I first came across club penguin when my eldest daughter started coming home from school and constantly hogging the computer i found that she was chit chatting to her school friends via a penguin she had named tincabely.
Club Penguin isn't just a site for the young tho i myself have joined too sad as this may be it is quite fun the chat is moderated so it is safe and if anyone abuses this you get reported and your account closed.
To join Club penguin you have two choices you can become a free member or you can pay to become a member the benefit's are different, if you choose to be a free member you can play all the games and make new friends and you still have your own igloo which is your home but you can't do things such as upgrade your igloo to a posher igloo and furnish it and you can't buy cloths for your penguin.
To join all you really need is an email adress after you have filled in a short form which takes your basic detail's like name age and address you are then asked to create your penguins name and password to sign in after which you are asked for your e-mail address so they can send you a verification e-mail with a link in that will then take you back to club penguin and you can start playing.
The cost to join is spread into convenience for you, you can either pay monthly which is $5.95 a month or £3.09p or you can pay for 6 months which is $29.95 and works out at just £15 for the 6 months or you can pay for a year which is $52.95 which is £26.92 in English money so to gain all the benefit's i feel that it is worth paying for, also if you use the pay monthly subscription you are able to cancel it at any time as you don't have to sign up for a certain amount of months this will mean you can pay your £3.09 for a months subscription and buy cloths and upgrade your igloo then cancel the next months subscription without any hassle.
To earn money on club penguin you need to play games you can go bob sleding, play connect four, ride a rubber ring on the back of a speed boat, go ice fishing or my daughters favourite play the coffee bean game there are lots more games and all give you money for your high scores.
The money you earn can be traded for cloths from the gift shop, a puffle from the pet shop or furniture for your igloo. Your all probably thinking whats a Puffle well a Puffle is a little coloured ball of fluff that has a personality of its own you have to care for your puffle by feeding washing and playing with them you also need to take them for walks this will keep your puffle happy and make sure they don't run away.
After you have been with club penguin for 30 days you will be able to become a tour guide or a secret agent and go on missions you don't have to do either of these but it will make your time spent on club penguin more interesting.
Every Thursday club penguin publishes a newspaper on their site this gives details of upcoming events and member parties it also tells you when the next pin will be released these pins are collectible and are normally changed every two weeks the newspaper will tell you exactly what day they will be released but not where it is hidden you will have to discover this for yourself.
Club penguin isn't just for people in England either you will meet new friends from a lot of other countries such as Canada the USA and Australia.
When you have made new friends and added them to your Buddie list you will then know if they are online if you have a Buddie online you will have a bright yellow smiley face within your buddie list all you have to do then is click on the name of your buddie this will bring up their penguin then you can click on the smiley face on their penguin and you will be able to find out exactly where your friend is be careful tho as you can only have 100 buddies if your list gets to full you will need to delete some off.
There is so much to do in club penguin so many new areas to explore and lots of friends to make even if you don't want to join yourself check it out for your children they will be able to make new friends from all over the world and you can be sure that it is safe chat.
Advantages: You have your own little world you can run off to! Disadvantages: You have to pay to use the full luxuries of the game
I first heard of this game at school. Loads of people were talking about it. I was hearing all sorts of things "At the momment my penguin is Blue but i'm thinking of making it red" I immediately started asking questions and went straight home to make myself an account. You do need an email adress to register so I had to make myself one. You then go through a simple registration process that is secured by choosing your penguin's name, your password ... ...choose Safe chat unlimited which allows you to type messages freely or Safe Chat Restricted, which only allows you to use their simple messages they give you. These are composed of simple phrases, like "Hello", "How are you?" etc You will then need to enter your parents email for activating your account.
Once your account is activated you can start exploring. There is a map which lets you get around the island. On the island you can visit places ...
