By half past two this afternoon, I knew that my stressful morning was all due to a member of staff at comet.co.uk. But I'll go in to that later!
comet.co.uk is a nice bright colourful site. (mainly orange!) It is very easy to look for the products you want, by using the Products Menu on the left of the home page. I was using them (01.01.01) to purchase a Digital Camera as they were selling it for the best price. Which I found in ~ Cameras & Camcorders>Digital Cameras. (There were 19 products to view in this section.)
Once in the Digital Camera section, there is an easy Product Compare button. This easily shows you which Camera has the most and best features. Even to a novice it is simple to compare Models with this feature. (No clicking back and forth either!)
The Camera I chose was a Kodak Easy Share cx4230. (zoom digital camera) It was on sale for 149.97, which is a good price. Even the Comet High Street shops are selling it for more, at 179.97 I think. (cheaper than themselves?) And most other places are charging 199.99, including John Lewis. (Never Knowingly under sold??) So comet.co.uk is deffinately a good place, to easily find a bargain.
So then what? Well, easy really. Just click on the BUY NOW button, and your off. Brief form to fill in, invoice/delivery address, card details, usual stuff. All still very simple and clear to follow.
I chose a delivery slot of 07/01/03 between 8am-6pm. It accepted my choice, and sent me a confirmation email. Explaining that I would be contacted again either by email or phone before my card was debited.
Then on the morning of the 3rd I had a call to check my details as delivery addres was different to card address. All was fine, and the girl explained that unless I recieved another call: I would be recieving a delivery between 8am-6pm on the 7th. Great!
How easy.... or so I thought!!
On the morning of the 6th I recieved a message on my phone from a comet delivery gentleman!(of sorts) However, I was at this point in Hitchin, in Herts. And the message was telling me my Camera had been delivered to Flat 1, Number 26... which in NOT my address. (And a day early!!) Somewhere in Brighton.
So straight away I called the Customer Care Line I had been given. (Now that is a joke!) There were several options, but after repeatedly trying the #4 option for internet purchases to no avail: I realised my only chance of them answering my call was if they thought that maybe I wanted to spend money?! It worked, first time! What a suprise.
I then began a game of being transfered, cut off, told I would be phoned back~and then not, put on hold and given excuses for over 45 mins!! At the expense of my partners, parents, phone bill. The outcome of my merry dance with the comet 'customer care? staff' was that I managed to get the Camera collected (by them) and taken, eventually, to somebody I knew until I could get home later today. (This did actually, mean having to cut our trip a little shorter than it should of been.)
So it did end up, finally in the safe hands of someone I knew! (Who then had to wait in for it!)Apart from that, hah. Well?
At the end of my last call to the comet staff, I did enquire at which rate the phone call would be charged at and she could not tell me. (she didn't know, she said so herself!) Then I enquired if there was a number I could call to complain, and again no. There is so such number. So I have to write a little letter now to Comet Customer Support Centre, North Somerset! I'll let you know if I get any? response. Oh, I was told however, that it was due to a single member of the internet staff, purely entering the wrong delivery slot!
Will I be using comet.co.uk again?

I had never read anything bad about comet.co.uk before, and decided to order a pc from them. What a mistake! First they refused my order, taking five days and many phonecalls before actually letting me know. Then when finally accepting the order, after I'd made several more phonecalls to both them and the bank, they said delivery wouldn't be possible for 7 days. I was a bit annoyed as after all I'd already waited five days, but thought oh well leave it at that. Seven days later, no pc. If it hadn't been for the fact that no-one else sold that particular pc I'd have cancelled then. Instead I waited, and waited, until finally after many more phonecalls they told me it was on it's way. In total I waited five weeks. Never again! x x

Advantages: You can take the item away with you when you buy, they price match local retailers Disadvantages: returning faulty items is very difficult, very contradictory head office phone advise
