i bought a brand new £600+ Acer laptop from comet around about 8 months ago, and ill tell you now it has been the worst Laptop i have ever had, within the first month the fan went, which under the 28 days return policy should of been replaced however comet insisted it had to be returned, so off it went to be repaired, anyway 2 months later the hard drive dismounted blue screen non reponces again it went back fro repair, 4 months down the line again it breaks again hard drive unreponsive, by this time i was pritty p*ssed as you can imagine im thinking it should get replaced by now its gone wrong 3 times in under 5 months of having it. I argued my case but the sales guy wouldent have it, it has to go back to acer again for repair.
anyway about two weeks back im working and bang the whole thing just shuts down no warning just off so i start it back up and its in the reboot menu i try recovery but no its dead all my uni work down the drain, 4 TIMES you would think by now it would be rote off and replaced, the ireny is comet assured me that if it went wrong again it would be replaced but no it has to be sent back to acer again, however the one thing that really annoyed me is the fact that the staff accused me of breaking it, saying 'it must off been a virus you downloaded' now i regulary do virus sweeps delete cookies and the rest and have a levels in computing so to come out and say that to me is insulting, anyway off it went and yet it came back with no virus problems at all but a hardware problem. so to sum up my laptop has gone wrong 4 times and no replacement, (the con is if you dont take out their extra cover which at the time was £170- £200 extra on top, once youve bought that laptop they dont give a toss about helping you afterwards) i think the really stupid thing was when i phoned acer to ask whos responsibility it was to write off the product they themselves said comet and comet said acer so whats going on guys? needless to say ive already took them to trading standards and they are currently sorting the matter out.
