I recently purchased £162.02 in books from this seller in early October of this year. £12.00 was charged for shipping and handling. The books arrived very quickly. The books arrived poorly packed and damaged. I notified the seller's customer service and was asked to return the books via surface mail to limit their postage costs. I returned the books for a refund. The cost of the books was refunded, but not the postage. The seller informed me that ...
...is not a result of their error. I should think that books damaged on account of their being inadequately packed would be construed as the seller's error. Beware of this seller. They will not take responsibilty for books being damaged in transit. On this basis, I recommend using caution when ordering from this bookseller. I am in the United States. I placed an order with this company back in September when I was starting university. I thought I had found a bargain and the information on the site said that Iwould have received my book within 14working days. I left it for about 20working days until I e-mailed them asking where my book was. They told me that they were having computer probs and that the book would be sent out at the end of that week. I waited another 7working days and then e-mailed ...

This website gives the impression of being operated out of someone's back room, and indeed that's not all that far from the truth, as it's run by a small independant shop in the middle of no-where. The site itself loads slowly (unless that's just the old uni computers I use :> ) and the design is not all that impressive. This used to be a good site with speedy free delivery and cheap prices but now countrybookshop is just a shadow of it's old self. It may have made it to position 14th in the Sunday Times e-League Top 100 table (July 2000) as advertised on the home page but it seems to have slipping since then and since I started using them, with each time I order a book service getting worse.
