This works like a whitelist service - you list the people you want to receive emails from. The rest have to pay up a fee for the privilege of reaching your mailbox.
Setting up the white list ("free pass list") is a bit of a hassle, but they do provide a way to import your address book - which helps.
If you go for Gold account ($10 first year, then $25), you get a POP3 mailbox with 20Mb limit. The Regular service (free for the first year; $10 afterwards) is a forwarding account. Proxy service works with your POP3 mailbox. It is $10 the first year, $25 thereafter.
Gold and Proxy accounts come with webmail interface. It works ok, but could be improved. Still, it is usable.
Overall, a terrific idea, great service, very helpful helpdesk (rather unusual these days). Highly recommended.

Welcome to Ciao. If you have a look around the site and read lots of other opinions you'll see what is needed for a higher rating - this is what I was advised to do when I started writing and it helped a lot. Hope you enjoy it here! Mel :)
