Recently, I have been looking at site that help you create CV’s, cvspecial.co.uk was another good CV site worth recommending. It was very helpful to me and the tips which I picked up were very good.
What I liked about this site was there were examples of good and bad CV’s, and although the Bad Cv’s were abit obviously bad, they still pointed out little things which could help.
They had a list of things which they suggest compromised a bad CV:
Bad Cvs are formal and boring in appearance and content and you can see at a glance that genius is absent.
Sometimes they are very long indeed, and inflexible in the way they present information; they rarely ask "what will people want to know?" and "what will be the most effective selling points to focus on?"
They are full of clichés such as "responsible for" and they have headings that make you squirm such as "Profile"; sometimes they contain really big ideas about "career objectives"...
Information is invariably all presented with the same weight and gravity, which means that trivia competes with the important stuff and a reader has to struggle to make sense of it all and so on.
So, if your CV fits any of the bad points, then get changing it. The ideas on good CV were equally impressive and you can check that your CV does fill that criteria. You can use this site to write your own CV, (although there is a cost)
But, what I liked about this site was it had great tips, free and things which may seem obvious but can always be missed.
The site was well presented and it was easy to follow. The only think is that when you wanted to go back, the site kept on needing to be refreshed.
This is a good CV site, for tips it’s brilliant but a bit costly if you want to create a CV with them……but then again most sites are.
