Summary: easy to set up an account, simple to find and choose products, reasonable prices, good purchase support information on many products, quick and efficient (and FREE) delivery. overall excellent and highly recomended e-commerce site.
As somthing of a e-shopping beginner, I was most impressed with DABS
.COMs organisation. Setting up an account is very quick and easy, just filling in name, address and credit card
details (all main cards
accepted-VISA, ACCESS, SWITCH etc. etc.) This information only need ever be entered once and is stored on their system under password ANND PIN number protection.
Once an account is created, you can start to browse the site, again navigation is pretty good and is is easy to both find a specific product and to 'browse' if you are not exactly sure what you want. Many products have links to more details, and even to product reviews
/comparisons on third-party sites.
When you have chosen your product, it is added to a shoping basket as per most sites. You can add further products, remove products or change quanties. The contents of the basket are controlled using cookies which means that even if you come out of the site and close down your computer
, next time you go back to the site, the contents ofyour basket is still there. If this sounds a bit risky, you have to enter a password and PIN number to access any such personal data so I don't think it is too much of a concern although I must admit I would be a bit worried using such a system on a public web-terminal, but again, anyone who enters their personal and credit card data onto a public computer needs their head examining anyway(in my opinion)
Once you have chosen all the products, it is simply a case of choosing the delivery address and payment method (as entered earlier) and confirming the order.
Delivery is free (to the UK) and is very prompt. (I ordered a scanner
at about 15:00 on day and it was delivered at 10:00 the next morning!
I can't recomend this site too highly if you want to buy consumer electronics
/computer equipment. The only part of their service I haven't tested is the Customer Service simply because I didn't need it...
