With a recent hard disk problem rendering my computer useless, I went in search of a new disk on the web, and a recent advert in PC World led me to visiting dabs.com.

On first impression, the website appeared very cluttered, although after finding a hardware search engine, I was presented with a clear and concise list of hard disks available, ready for dispatch, in stock.

The manufacturers' names and models are clearly displayed, along with the necessary information, such as the capacity and the interface (connector), which connects the hard disk to the motherboard.

Next to this information are two prices, including and excluding VAT, and adjacent to this information is a small 'I' icon, which, when clicked, brings up a new window with product information, images and descriptions, which proved most helpful in choosing which product to purchase, and prices are very reasonable, and you would be hard pushed to find another online retailer offering more competitive prices.

Upon ordering the product, the process of filling out the respective credit card and delivery details was particularly difficult, and on several intervals I had to press the 'back' button to re-enter the information, however once the order was placed, a confirmation e-mail was sent, explaining how long delivery is likely to take.

A few days later, an e-mail was sent to confirm the product has been dispatched; however on the day of the intended delivery, no product was received. An e-mail to the customer services department received a swift reply, apologizing for the delay, blaming the suppliers. However as promised by the representative, the hard disk arrived two days later, in perfect condition.

To conclude, dabs.com provide a very reliable service, offering high quality products at very reasonable prices. However, my only criticism is that the delivery times can be unpredictable, although this is outweighed by the free delivery. Therefore, the reasonable prices, coupled with the free delivery charges make dabs.com one of the most competitive online retail outlets available.
