I recently visited dabs.com to order Paint Shop Pro 7 after reading the reviews on Ciao. I preferred it to the Jasc website as I was given a competitive price in pounds sterling rather than US dollars which would have been subject to the exchange rate.
As with all websites I have used to purchase things, you first need to set up an account with dabs.com. I was happy to do so, except that part of the process was to set up a method of payment. Basically, allow dabs.com to store either my debit or credit card details (or both) before I could start shopping. I decided to do it, because as soon as I’d received my order I could then remove the details (and put them back when I next wanted to buy from dabs.com without cancelling the account.) However this was a very clumsy process involving displaying almost all the numbers on my card on the screen as part of my account. Now I don’t mind storing account details with a website but they could have given me the option to enter them without storing, or secondly sent the bill to my house as they had to have a delivery address anyway.
The ordering aside, the software was delivered exactly as promised. It arrived two working days later, and having paid an extra £3 delivery charge for evening delivery, it arrived about 6 o’clock in the evening. Everything was there and I could start using the PSP7 straight away. It actually took the delivery confirmation note longer to arrive (two days later), and I wasn’t billed until a few days later.
Beware that the price quoted next to an item doesn’t include VAT or the delivery charge, so check the total price before deciding to buy. But, I haven’t noticed any junk mail as a result of signing up with dabs.com and would certainly use them to purchase software again.
