According to BBC News Online, this 'institution' has a drop out rate of 11% for the academic year 2001-02. The justification for this shockingly low figure is the classic Paxman motto: "I've started so I'll finish". Well, what have the non-drop-outs started? A programme of study that, if it was anything like my first year, is intellectually unstimulating, psychologically draining (though not in any positive sense of the word) and about as useful ... ...may have been a little harsh - at least anthrax is mildly amusing to those versed in the darker side of humour).
My course of 'study' (Photography and Video) was to the Humboldtian ideal as Mohammed Atta was to the New York skyline. It consisted of producing consistently awful work (and I speak only for myself - my work was thoroughly appalling), getting marked over the top for it, all the while sitting through lectures which talked monotonously ...

De montfort university leicester - My first and only uni
After 2 full years at de montfort university leicester, i can say that i am satisfied that it was a good choice for me.
It may not be the best university on paper, or even physically, but i find it very good.
I am studying for a BSc Business Information Systems and am really enjoying the course. The IT department is very good, with access to PC and Unix labs very readily available. At times ... ...full quite quickly. This can cause problems occasionally but there are plenty of places to go.
The main problem with this (and a few other in Computer Science and Engineering faculty) course is the management. The faculty is quite poorly organised and coursework marking, results etc. take a long time coming through. Unlike most other faculties we do not get individual timetables, instead having to print off a communal one and then crossing out the ...

...-> Me
I am a student who has spent the last 2 years studying for a BSc (Hons) computer science degree at DeMontfortUniversity, Leicester.
I completed my IT A-Level back in 1999 and decided that computing was to be my degree path. My time at university has been great to say the least. But here I intend to focus on my actual degree and its content not the countless nights filled with alcohol, kebabs, scrapes with the law etc...
-> My University
The academic year is divided up into 2 semesters each 13 weeks long, after each semester is a 3-week break and then a 3-week exam period. Each week of the semester is divided up into hourly lecture slots that occur Monday to Friday between 9am and 6pm.
The lectures themselves usually involve an OHP or a PowerPoint slide show projected onto a screen. The lecture theatres tend to hold...
