The trouble with writing a review of a University is that there really is no homogenous whole - a university is merely the sum of its parts. Another reviewer said this University was pretty dire - but that wasn't my experience at all. Having said that I was undertaking a completely different subject area. My experience of DMU is that it has some excellent faculties - and some that are definitely wanting. Drawing on my own experience, and that of friends and colleagues, over the past 10 years or so, i would say that if you're interested in studying law, business, media, fashion or most humanities DMU is the place to be. It also has a highly innovative economic programme taught by some of the most cutting-edge lecturers in the country. On the other hand if English, engineering, and combined degrees are what you're after then poor old DMU is probably pretty second rate. DMU is far superior to many of the new universities and in some areas (journalism for example) it has future employment rates which cannot be bettered by anywhere else in the country. Leicester is not a bad place to be, housing is pretty plentiful and cheap. We had a seriously excellent time there - I would wholeheartedly recommend major areas of the university's provision
