I have started BSC Engineering this year at DeMontfort University having choosen not to continue with my degree a mile up the road at Leicester Uni. Having scraped through a tough first year at Leicester uni, I left to start again at DeMontfort though illness. The initial opinion was that the uni was far more modern than Leicester (not difficult) and far more friendly (hard not to be.) Despite what the heirachy may say the academic level of the respective engineering departments is very different. I did a National diploma and in heinsight I think it would have been a good choice to start my degree at DeMontfort and not Leicester. The level is admittitly slighly lower but the style (lots of assignments) is more suitable for Nat Dip entrants.
