DMU is the biggest uni in england but a very nice place to attend. I am going into my third year now and have enjoyed every second of it, I play in the football and cricket teams, and get involved with many of the activities that go on around the city campus. The people at DMU are great and if you get yourself out there you get to know so many great people. Last year I managed a football team which helped me as a person as well as meeting new and interesting people. I came to DMU when I had only just turned 18 so it was a big step from the home comforts I had been used to.

The accomodation provided is second to none with over 10 halls of residence and all 1st year students are guarenteed a place. I lived at KINGFISHER COURT, although it was brand new with en suite bathroom and ikea furniture it let itself down as it was very hostile and unfriendly. I made some great friends there though and moved into a house with them this year. The best halls to try and get into are BEDE and NEW WHARF, these are the more fun lively halls which often have parties and are the place to go after a night out. One thing to be aware of if you move into KINGFISHER COURT is damage deposits!!!! I lost all 150 pounds of mine and then they charged me another 150 pounds and the prices were terrible- 30 pound for a new hoover cable!!!!!! Anyway moving away from kingfisher, the university itself has a good reputation and is well known around the city for getting involved in community projects.

The learning facilities are brilliant witha massive library and an up and coming campus with huge amounts of money going into the development of IT systems. I study music technology and in our dept we have over 50 G4 macintosh computers with all the relavent sound recording equptment.

Leicester itself is a nice place to live, it is very multicultural and can be a shock at 1st but after a while you get used to it. Leicester has two universities which makes nights out very fun as over 20,000 students live here. There are a variety of clubs including Zanzibar and creation as well as two student unions. The rivalry between the universities is in good nature and is always a good thing when we play our varsity tournaments in football and rugby hiring out the walkers stadium and welford road. Just round the corner from the uni is two sports stadiums where leicester city football play and leicester tigers (rugby), we get student discounts (as we do every where)!!!!!

To summarise Leicester is a great place to come and study and DMU offers a great wide range of everything to interest every person with over 50 clubs and societys, DMU really does have it all.
