Harddrive upgrade from Digital Fusion

My beloved MacBook has long been in dire need of an upgrade due to an ever-expanding collection of photos, music and videos, so on Thursday the 1st of October I took the plunge after making sure that I could upgrade the harddrive without invalidating the warranty. I opted for a Seagate Momentus 2.5" 7200.4 500GB harddrive (ST9500420AS) which is the biggest and fastest sub-£100 harddrive for laptops at the time of writing.

Price

After shopping around for the best deal using Google Shopping, Bolton-based internet retailer Digital Fusion turned out to be the cheapest by quite a margin. Although I went for the standard delivery option to save money, they upgraded my order to next-day City Link delivery free of charge.

Ordering & Shipping

After paying for the harddrive using a safe (VeriSign Secured) payment method, I received the order/shipping confirmation via email, and the harddrive arrived on the 2nd of October (safely packaged in bubblewrap inside two cardboard boxes) less than 24 hours after I placed the order. Just in time for the weekend, so I could get started with the long-overdue Snow Leopard upgrade.

After sale care

I haven't needed any after sale care, so I can't really comment on that. I did however receive a 'Big hearty thank you' note in an email after the harddrive had shipped.

The Digital Fusion website is easy to navigate, and having tested it in 3 of the most common browsers (Firefox, IE, Safari), the layout, shopping cart etc work as expected. The same can be said about the catalog search function which includes a Power Search function that allows you to narrow a search by product category, manufacturer, price range etc. The website will also remember the contents of your shopping basket between sessions if your browser allows cookies. The website looks professional/minimalistic, and I think this is a good thing.
