Most people reading this op have probably seen, or visited, a Dixons store. What becomes more obvious when browsing their site is that they are part of the Dixons Group, a high-street monopoly incorporating ... Read review

Advantages: They had the product I wanted at a cheap price. Disadvantages: Pretty much everything else.
...well with other reports of Dixons.com that I've read since I ordered... products being added to the shopping cart fine, bought fine, money being debited from cards, and then five days later, an email to say the item is actually out of stock.
Just how much money are Dixons making by holding onto peoples' money when they don't have the goods to supply, or intend to supply them a full week later than advertised?
By now I'm in a rage, of course, so ... ...cling onto that line until my call is answered. It took 34 minutes for someone to pick up, and when they did, they actually had the cheek to argue about what the website says - the website I was sitting looking at while on the phone.
Rude CS rep: "Well I'd actually like to make you aware that our delivery dates are currently stated as up to 7 days."
Me: "Actually on your website it says delivery on the fifth day".
Rude CS Rep: "No that's not the ...

Advantages: Competitively priced Disadvantages: Unbelievably poor service
I have never been a fan of Dixons, but I thought that I would give their on line service a go as they had a very good price for a basic laptop that I was after. Before you can order from them, you have to pre-register both your personal and credit card details. Personally, I don't like leaving my credit card details with anyone, let alone an on-line shop. That aside I did register as I wanted to buy the laptop.
All went well initially as I managed ... ...confirming the order (which at the time I thought was quite re-assuring). I got the confirmation emails when they said I would get them, and then received a phone call from them (as promised) to confirm the delivery date and time. All in all, very impressive.
Now the sting in the tail. On the morning of the delivery, I received a phone call to say that the laptop was out of stock and that someone would call me later in the day to discuss my options. ...

Advantages: Something for nothing. Disadvantages: Poor service and poor customer care.
So there I was, quite happily sitting in front of my rather old and rather slow PC when the daydreams started. Perhaps a new PC? or maybe just a few upgrades? Err, lets way up those costs. I started with Jungle.com. Then moved on to various others before finding my way to the Dixons website.
Now, having short arms and very deep pockets, I my eyes instantly zoomed in on the word FREE!! The word 'FREE' referred to a First Click Mouse pad worth £29.99 ... ...still my racing heart! (Aren’t I sad?).
I quickly scanned the price lists and found the cheapest product available. This was a Duracell Battery priced at £1.49. I promptly gave my credit card and delivery address details as required and waited for the email advising me that the order had been confirmed. Within minutes, the email was here.
3 days went by and no parcel.
Checked the online order status and was saddened to see that they were ...

Advantages: Competetive Price for the TV I wanted Disadvantages: Shocking Customer Service
I decided to order a 42" Panasonic with cabinet stand and DVD recorder in the package, for my father, via Dixons internet site as the price seemed very good. Placed the order no problem and received an e-mail confirming the order. 6 days later however I received another e-mail saying one or more of the products was out of stock and cancelling the order. Whilst I was kind of shocked that a company like Dixons has not got a internet ordering system ... ...at the time of ordering, I decided to order the TV and cabinet stand via Dixons Telesales and get the out of stock DVD recorder elsewhere.
The ordering process was no problem and I arranged for the delivery 6 days later. When the TV was delivered I realised that they had sent me the wrong stand I phoned the telesales 0870 number and I was told that the stand must be the correct one as it was part of package. I then telephoned Panasonic and they ...

Advantages: can't think of any Disadvantages: lousy site design, endless check out process, bad navigation
I have just received an impersonal email from Dixons informing me that they cannot accept my method of payment. Now, if this happened once, I would assume they made a mistake, however, this is the second time in as many days! Here is the story: I wanted to buy a little hi-fi (parents' birthday gift to me). So I found one I liked (it was even on sale) and proceeded through their maze of a check out process. I have never been asked so many repetitive ... ...for 5 years. They even wanted my birthday as a final piece of info, after getting about every other piece of info on me, sending me through their policies, making me click a thousand "accept" buttons and generally denying any responsibility in case my card gets stolen or the purchase is not what I want. My first purchase got rejected 24 hours after I placed it. OK, I used a US-registered credit card (which works fine on Amazon.co.uk by the way). ...
