Full review
My mission started after sorting though boxes of books and deciding that I really could do with a book shelf, I also needed a hose for washing the back yard out and the only place where I figured I could buy both items was B&Q. Now I could have taken a 15 minute trip down the road to my local store but I'm pregnant and the thought of traipsing round aisle after aisle of DIY tools, paints and door knobs didn’t really appeal to me so I decided to checkout the online store!

I will take you through my whole experience starting with

HOMEPAGE:
I was impressed with the homepage, special offers were prominent, the site loaded quickly, the help section was clearly defined and there is an excellent long list of department, a really helpful part was the section called 'customer favourites', underneath is a list of 18 main departments.
You are not overloaded with too much information or products which encouraged me to explore further!

SEARCHING:
All was going rather well until I started to search! It took me about 20 minutes to find a half suitable hose, even then I was not impressed as there was only 2 options, both way out of my price range, though I did come across plenty of hose accessories, just what I didn’t need!
On the other hand my search for book shelves went much better, I found what I was looking for in about 3 seconds flat, with plenty of options for me to choose from!

INFO ON ITENS FOUND:
The description of each items were very informative, the pictures were good, once enlarged very clear and pricing was very clear and in keeping with what you'd expect. With regards to my shelving it really made my buying decision very easy!

RANGE, VARIETY AND CHOICE:
I have mixed opinions due to the experience I had, with some items excellent, with others poor! This is a site though that sells a massive range of products, i.e.: Electrical fittings, paints and any other decorating item you can think of, interior and external doors, bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, shower, conservatory and shed furniture and fittings, heating products and appliances and garden items such as water features and a couple of really expensive hoses no good for yards... :-)
Basically everything needed to decorate and upgrade your home!!!

SHOPPING BASKET:
The shopping basket tool is good on this website, it’s easy to change and delete items in your basket, the pricing is clear and there are clear secure website warnings. The basket also holds items in the shopping basket for 30 days if you don’t wish to make a decision there and then!
You can go back and forth from your basket also if you wish to shop more.

DELIVERY:
The cost of delivery is really expensive, it isn’t worth going on this website to buy a tin of paint, with delivery at a cost of £4.95 I would say any total amount over £30 is worth it, even then I really begrudged paying so much for delivery costs!
The section on delivery options is really good, there is a box where you can enter your postcode and get exact delivery costs, also the exact date of delivery! Items are usually delivered the next day. This I found out as my shelves were delivered the very next day, in perfect condition, and I have to say I was very happy with my purchase!
Each product on the website is marked with a delivery symbol indicating the delivery band and services available, all very clear and helpful.
You can cancel your diy.com order at any stage before the goods are delivered to you, also if you have your delivery and you are not satisfied with the order you have received from diy.com you may return it to them within 28 days of delivery unwrapped but you will have to pay for any delivery costs unless the item is faulty!

REGISTERING:
You don’t have to register to buy any products from this website but if you do you can or will be:
  • Check orders online
  • Personally welcomed to the website each time you log-on
  • Receive newsletters and updates about new products and special offers
  • Request a free brochure
  • Book a free design consultation for a new kitchen, bathroom or conservatory
  • Credit card details will be saved

CUSTOMER SERVICES:
I didn’t have to use this but there is a good HELP section, with plenty of contact options if you do have a problem.

OVERALL IMPRESSION:
After receiving a confirmation by email I received my order the very next day, and later that afternoon my books had a new home, and I had a big pile of unread books to get through.
I was very pleased with the whole experience (apart from the hoses) and would definetly shop here again if it was a big order.
The only big downside to this online store is the delivery costs, but when I weigh it up, I don’t have a car, and by the time I forked out money on taxis I would have well spent more then that!!
