When I started using the net I tried quite a few search engines... every time I looked something up in fact. Then I found Dogpile... and I've never bothered with any of the others since (no, not even Google).
Dogpile is a meta-search engine, which means it farms out your query to more than a dozen other search engines (including:- Google, Lycos, Alta Vista, Yahoo... and if there were a search engine called UncleTomCobbly.com I expect it would use that too!)
It gives you the first ten results from each of the other search engines (and you have the option of linking to each engine for more)
Why use one search engine when you can use them all?
It's a useful way of comparing the results produced by the various search engines as well.
Update:
Actually, having been made aware of the 'cache' function at Google, I am prepared to bow to those who say Google is, technically, better. But Dogpile will sniff out more than most.
