What Is Dooyoo?

Dooyoo is a website which pays its members to write unbiased reviews on a wide range of products.

Who Can Join Dooyoo?

Anyone! You don't need a special invitiation or referral link.

What Should I Write About?

The great thing about Dooyoo is that there is such a wide range of products in there database - there is everything from makeup, ovens and phones to sex toys and toilet roll!

Layout

The website is nicely laid out, it's clear and has a basic, unisex white and green colour scheme. It doesn't take much time to learn to navigate around the site at all. The site is very lightweight and never lags, it loads nice and quickly with quick navigation.

Dooyoomiles/Payment

There are levels on Dooyoo which reflect how popular an item is. For example, most electrical items are in the highest level, while makeup and food are in the lower levels. If you write a review in level one you will get 60p. Level 2 and you will get 30p and level 3 you will get 10p. You also get money each time another Dooyoo member reads your review. This ranges from 0 to 2p I think. If your review recieves a crown (this is where other members nominate your review if it is exceptionally well written or informative) you will recieve 1,500 dooyoo miles which is equivellant to £1.50. I know it doesn't sound like alot but the dooyoomiles soon add up! Payment is very simple, you can either get an Amazon voucher when you reach 20,000 dooyoomiles (£20) which will be emailed to you, or you can recieve a cheque when you reach 50,000 dooyoomiles (£50) which will be posted to you. I have always recieved my vouchers within a week, and my cheques have usually taken 2-3 weeks. I have never experienced any issues with payment and I have found Dooyoo to be extremely reliable.

Writing A Good Review

A premium (paid) review needs to be over 150 words. You will need to include:
  • What is it?
  • What does it do?
  • How long have you owned the item?
  • The price and value for money
  • What it looks like/packaging - is it eye catching or ugly? Are there different designs to choose from?
  • Your honest opinion on the product
Obviously the things you need to mention will depend on what you are reviewing.

Ratings

There are four different rating options on Dooyoo:
  • Not Useful
  • Somewhat Useful
  • Useful
  • Very Useful
Alot of Dooyoo members will find a short review that doesn't have any personal opinion not helpful so it is important to put as much personal opinion (as well as prouct information) in to your review as you can.

Things Not To Do!

* If someone rates your review not useful, do not rate one of theres not useful out of spite. This is called revenge rating and it could result in your account bein banned. Just ignore it and try to see how you could improve with your writing.

* Do not click through lots of reviews and rate them straight away. Dooyoo time how long you read a review for, if you open a 500 word review and rate it within 2 seconds then this is called speed rating. You need to read a review properly before rating in order to make a decision on what to rate it.

* Don't copy. This is called plagiarism. Not only is against Dooyoo rules but it is also very selfish behavouir which can result in your account been banned. Make sure you post your own work only. If you include a quote in your review then list the source - simply write via from google/wiki next to the sentence you have copied.

My Dooyoo Experience

I joined Dooyoo just over 6 months ago, which ofcourse is nothing compared to alot of other people on there; especially as the majority of people who i've met on the site so far have been a member for an avergage of 5 years each! That alone shows what an incredibly good website Dooyoo is, and that people trust the sites system - making any newcomers more confident that Dooyoo do indeed keep there payment promises. I joined the site after hearing about it via a thread on MoneySavingExpert.com, and thought it sounded a brilliant, easy way to make a bit of spending money, which to an extent is true.

Brilliant? Yes. It's an ingenious idea for both the site owners and the consumers to make money, aswell as the consumers unbiased opinions bein an enormous help to people in the position of making a desision whether to buy a certian product or not.

Easy? At first i thought so. I randomly grabbed a handful of items and reviewed them to what i thought was of decent quality. Others didn't think so, and i became quite upset at one point soon after joining as i felt my reviews and writing skills were been patronised. I didn't give up, though! I wrote and wrote, building up my dooyoomiles as i went, and soon started revieving some more encouraging, positive comments, which made me feel great! I have now earnt seven crowns, which I am very proud of.

Dooyoomiles (the money!), in my opinion, are one of the main reasons people write. Ofcourse, many of us do it to relax and to get things off our chest, send out warnings of substandard products or simply want to tell everyone how great a product is and if it's worth a try. The whole site enables users to build up their skills and make money in the process, which i feel is brilliant. The money is a big motivation to write reviews the highest standard possible and develope communication skills; via reviews, the writer communicates to a wide audience; alot of dooyoo reviews come up in google search results so can literally be read by anyone who's interested in the product you've reviewed.

Friends on the site are also a motivation because of there kind comments and encouragement; i've made a couple of friends that i talk to regulary on Facebook, and i feel if i were to never use dooyoo again i'd be letting them down!

The fact the website is nicely laid out, welcoming and simple to use is great too and it feels somewhat like a social networking website, which encourages me to log in to see if any of my Dooyoo member of trust friends have posted anything new that i can have a nose at!

So far i've thoroughly enjoyed been a Dooyoo member and can't resist logging on atleast once a day. I find myself in the supermarket picking things up purely so i can review them! So far i'm proud to say i have made over £400, which is £400 i didn't have before it has helped greatly with my bills and a majority of it goes into my savings/car fund. Around £100 of this money I have cashed out in the form of Amazon vouchers, meaning I have treat myself to a few bits and bobs that I have been wanting from there for a while including an iPod dock, but i'm trying to save my vouchers up so that I can buy something of value such as a new TV or perhaps a new laptop.

Ofcourse there's downsides, such as the people who may post copied reviews/revenge rate/make offensive comments about mine or other peoples' reviews and/or spelling etc, but the positives outweigh this and the DooyooTeam seem quick to respond to any violations of the Dooyoo rules. Another downside is people who have say, 500 reviews with 10,000 rates, but haven't rated anyone elses reviews. In my opinion this isn't partipating in the whole concept of Dooyoo, but ofcourse it doesn't stop me from rating there review if it's of interest to me, as i enjoy reading reviews by other people who've had experiences with products i own/would like to own!

Is Dooyoo better than Ciao? To be honest, I think they're both great - I can't choose which one I like most!

Overall, i'd say i'm more addicted to Dooyoo then any other site, including Youtube, eBay and Facebook! It's a great oppurtunity and keeps my mind busy even when i'm just sat on the laptop, and helps with my writing/spelling skills. I'd reccomend Dooyoo to anyone - whether you purely want to share your opinions, enhance your writing skills, want to make friends, or simply want to make a bit of extra money.

Hope this helps :-)
