I am sure that many people love to have their own personal homepages. Nowadays many free web-hosting services are available on Internet. As the fact of using free services, we are only allowed to use their sub-domain names to refer our sites, such as http://www.djohan.netfirms.com or http://www.user.deluxnetwork.com/~djohan. What a long URL!
Well, some serious homepage owners would pay for having a DOT COM, DOT NET, DOT ORG, and some ... ...though we must pay for a nice domain name.
What do you think of this one, http://www.djohan.tk ? I have got a free service to obtain a TK as my domain name for my personal homepage from http://www.dot.tk.

I see that the TK stands for Tokelau. Frankly telling you, the first time I heard Tokelau – it was new for me. Then anxiously to know, I used my search-engine to find some information for Tokelau. Ok, I am sure that you must have known about Tokelau, because though Tokelau is a self-administering territory of New Zealand, its national anthem is God Save the Queen. [For more detailed information for Tokelau, please visit: http://www.tokelau.org.nz/]
Who run DOT TK?
Dot TK is a joint venture of the Government of Tokelau, it's communication company Teletok and Taloha, Inc., a privately held company. The Government of Tokelau has appointed Taloha, Inc. as the exclusive registration entity.
Taloha is privately funded and has offices in San Francisco, USA and Amsterdam, the Netherlands. With its management team, an experienced staff and multi-redundant backbones in both countries Taloha can handle millions of registrations.
Taloha is working together with PowerDNS.COM BV in the Netherlands, the leading provider of dynamic nameservers. By deploying the innovative technology of PowerDNS, Taloha is able to sell a domain and see it in action in seconds, where regular top level domains take days before the acquisition is processed.

Just a Free Domain Name
Ok, if you are interested in having a free domain name at DOT TK, here are some more things I could tell you.
DOT TK does not support us to upload our HTML Files on its server. It only redirects a link with DOT TK to its original server.
Here is an illustration for the service. I have uploaded my HTML files on to deluxnetwork.com, by its FTP server (my original web address on this free web hosting service is http://www.user.deluxnetwork.com/~djohan). Then I try to register to DOT TK in order to have a new and shorter domain name or a new URL - http://www.djohan.tk (it is nicer, isn’t it?)
In the online registration process, I fill in the form with some basic information (such as: my name, address, date of birth) and my original URL (in this case is http://www.user.deluxnetwork.com/~djohan).
After finishing the registration process, the DOT TK helps to redirect the registered URL to its original URL. In this case, my original URL is http://www.user.deluxnetwork.com/~djohan; if a visitor uses http://www.djohan.tk to visit my website, DOT TK is redirecting it to http://www.user.deluxnetwork.com/~djohan without changing the URL typed on his browser.
One more interesting feature is we could also redirect our email address in the registration process. My original email address is djohan@popmail.com – and in the registration process I could have a djohan@djohan.tk as my email address. In this case, certainly all the incoming emails are read in my original email.Basically Comes with no Advertisements
By the way, though we are using their free service, basically no banners or popups appear when other people are visiting our homepages.
We could also help DOT TK to promote their service by allowing them to put their DOT TK banners or popups. Personally, I let them put their popups on my homepage.
Is it really free?
Yes, it is absolutely free with one condition - as long as we could have 25 hits within the last 90 days (3 months). It means that we must know how to run an interesting homepage which interests visitors.
We could check how many visitors we have got whenever we want to. There is a facility for us to see the unique hits we have got daily online. It is really interesting for me.
If we are not able to fulfil the condition, we could obtain a DOT TK by paying USD25 per year.
By this chance, I would like to invite you to have a look at my new personal homepage http://www.djohan.tk and certainly it gives me one unique hit from each of you (LOL).
In brief, the registration process is simple.
Are the features interesting? If you are interested in having one, now feel free to visit its official site: http://www.dot.tk .
Hurry up now to have a cute domain name - http://www.YourName.tk. Why don’t we try while it is being free?
Advantages: They are free and can give your webpage a professional look Disadvantages: If you dont receive 25 visitors in 90 days your .tk can be claimed by someone else
If you have heard people talking about .tk or read anything about them on the internet then you are probably curious as to what it is for. Because there are different endings for each country, E.g. .fr is for France, .de is for Germany, .co.uk is for the uk, but what could .tk stand for. Turkey perhaps, nope, it stands for Tokelau.
Tokelau is made up of 3 small atolls located in the south pacific and their total area is 10 sq km, with their highest ... ...population for all 3 atolls of just 1,405 people. In September 2003 a group of people from the Dot TK team went to all three atolls to present what the Internet can mean for such a small country. This information was considered carefully, and just recently it was decided that is would be worth giving the internet to the three atolls.
And so it began, all the work necessary to give the inhabitants the ability to use the internet got underway.
Before ...

...you will be pleasantly surprised. Dot.tk puts your website on numerous search engines under the keywords you put on before you got the domain name.
Some of you might be thinking… What is a domain name? Is it a web host? Is it a search engine? Well know, it is the name for your website. When you put in an internet link, you will be able to have your very own one… for example:
http://www.(domain-name-here).tk
http://www.freedomains.tk
They are ... ...your own imagination to work, and create your own unique individual domain name. Here are some more examples.
Say if you are creating an Anime site, and you want to call it something unique, then you could do this one:
http://www.animecentral.tk Or something else likes this one
http://www.thisisanime.tk
But you don’t even need to use any of them, it’s your domain name, not mine. Also you can keep a traffic count on your site, so you know how ...

Advantages: Its free.....but nothing is really free is it? Disadvantages: Once you get good traffic, they steal your domain
Dot.TK Is a giant parking page SCAM set up to lure you in by offering FREE domains only to bait and switch you once your website traffic starts rolling on in. In my case, they stole several of my high traffic domains without any notice and parked them to earn money from the backlink traffic. No notice was sent to me as to why, nor was I able to reclaim them by any means. My phone calls and faxes fell upon deaf ears as well. Webmasters beware! I confirmed ... ...it with visitors. Once the count got to be above 500 per day, the domain myteriously disappeared from my account! Another poor aspect of this company is that they do not respond to email contact...that is, if you can find any! I will never recommend to anyone to use this TLD for registering any domain. You're much better off with a .info compared to these crooks. ...

www.dot.tk offers internet users free domain names that end in .tk (e.g. sfcsfc.tk my website). There is the obvious advantage of being able to make your own personal website name a lot more easy to remeber and more accessible to the masses if you do not want to pay for a domain. It looks more professional if your website ends .tk rather than .co.uk/freewebs_sfcsfc.
You will be able to keep your free domain as long as you have 25 hits to your website ... ...even if your website does not appeal in the early stages you can easily visit it yourself this amount of times to keep it running. If however you do lose your domain it will then cost you $9.95 to get it back.
All domains are not free as big ticket ones such as cocacola.tk have been reserved for the multinational companies due to copyright rules and legislations.
Plus some domains that are highly memorable such as a very short website (aaa.tk) ...

Advantages: Free short domain, can be anonymous Disadvantages: Advertising banner is unprofessional
Dot.tk provides its users with a free domain name, and it's services can be used either to shorten a long domain name or to act as the primary domain name for a site. For the webmaster of a small site, particularly if it is just a personal site, this can be very useful. The company is based in Tokelau in South-East Asia but is part of a join venture with its government. If you are like me, then you probably won't have even heard of this place before ... ...By providing free domain names, the people of Tokelau are hoping to get better publicity around the world.
I seem to be straying from the main subject. This free domain service, as I already said, can be very useful for beginner users or for personal sites that may not receive that much traffic and do not wish to spend any money on a domain name like .co.uk or .com. The company currently allows users to enter a domain name/web address anonymously ...
