Since buying a DVD player a couple of years ago I immediately turned to the internet to buy DVD's to help reduce the extra cost over video. Over time I have used several different stores until I found DVDPlus.
I was first put off by the basic web site in comparison to previous companies I used. However the prices shown were cheaper than most competitors. At the end of the day the web site is functional. A Search facility is available on the home page to search by genre, film title, starring actors/actresses, director or other. As if that were not enough there is also a search page that adds film board classification and decade film was made.
There is also a 'what’s new' page which includes a list of offers, often a long detailed list over several pages. Other sections are latest releases and pre order titles. I have pre ordered from DVDPlus and received my order on day of release.
There is a help section which details over several pages how to use the site. However the basic layout does mean it’s simple to use anyway.
Next there is the 'About us' area of the site. Here you can find out contact information, legal issues, how the company runs and who DVDPlus are.
When you conduct a search you are presented with matching results. This can include a box picture, very brief film information, actors, director, certificate, genre and of course price. Postage and packing is free so the price you see is the purchase price. From here you can add the item to your shopping basket or click on the title for more detailed information which includes more information on the film plot and special features on the DVD. Also you will see film length, films release date and DVDPlus availability for despatch.
Once items are in your shopping basket you can delete an item, continue shopping or pay.
As with most sites you have to be registered with the site and DVDPlus is no exception. This does mean that you don’t have to keep typing in your name and address as all you have to do is log in. Signing in or registering can be completed from the home page. You also have the option of email updates of offers and new releases.
You have two options when paying for DVD's. You can either pay by debit/credit card or by DVDplus card. This is a prepaid card that can have credit put onto it at paypoint outlets. This enables people to shop at this site who don’t have a credit/debit card or a concerned of card fraud. Full information on this can be found on the web site.
Delivery is usually around 2-3 days and remember that P&P is free. Take that into account when comparing to other shops.
Point to note: DVDPlus also sell audio CD's. However I have never bought one from them or looked heavily into this area. I therefore do not feel I can offer the level of advice that I can on the main side of the business of DVD's.
In short this is an excellent company, cheap and quick to deliver. Some may not like the web site but it has all the function that you should need and easy to navigate.
Nice op. Agree about the company as well. My last order was placed at 10.45pm Friday night and the DVD was in my hand before 10.00am Saturday morning! How did they do that!
