In recent months, we have seen the growth of many companies join the DVD rental sector, one such company to jump on the bandwagon is Whsmith.
Whsmith’s new online DVD rental service was first launched in November 2004 and is run in partnership top DVD rental company Lovefilm. I got an 8 rental voucher for christmas as a gift, for my 13 year old. Having opened the package- and entered the 'special' code- I find I have to give credit card details. I don't have a credit or debit card, funny enough nor does my 13 year old! I also found that they are doing an introductory offer for free dvd rentals- which was better than the gift someone had paid for- for my child!
I contacted them, and they said they want the credit or debit ... ...to use some one elses?! Somewhat defeating the object?
Anyway, I borrowed a card- and got the registration complete- entered about 20 dvd's into their list.
This is the process...you search through their list of films- by title, popularity, year, many search options actually & lots of films.
You then chose as many as possible- because they will chose which you get- depending on which they have available at the time- I suppose. You can mark them ...

Advantages: easy to use site, good selection, done from home Disadvantages: poor customer service.
whsmith work along side a company called lovefilm to provide you with online dvd rental. You simply sign up for either 1 disc at home at a time (£7.99 per month) or 3 at home (£13.99 per month). You then choose at least 20 titles that you wish to rent put them in to order of priority and they will do the rest.
when you recieve the dvd in the post watch it then send it back in the prepaid envelope provided they will then send another title from the ... ...work like that. For the first month it is free and every thing couldn't be better, so you stay with them and pay the £13.99 per month then things go downhill from then on, the dvds are not sent in priority order they seem to be picking them from the bottom of the list rather than the top. In the last 4 months i have yet to recieve an up to date film.
When i email them thay just send an automated email back saying that they cannot gaurantee the order ...
