Like so many people on this site, I was really nervous about committing to an internet mobile service. However, my circumstances made it difficult to go anywhere.
I love gadgets, desired the HTC hero but can't get reception for Orange in my house. E2save had the hero on Vodafone.

The Positives

My first order was with mobiles.co.uk. They emailed back saying they were out of stock with that contract. I found e2save. They are a sister of mobiles.co.uk but surprisingly don't have the same products. To be sure of not getting caught in the cancellation trap some people have described, I called them.

Unlike mobiles.co.uk, who had a automated response saying there would be an hour wait in the queue (well at least they told me!) I got through to customer services immediately. I have since done so again 3 more times, so perhaps customer services are improving here.

I avoided the cashback contracts and went for a straightforward contract. I have a straightforward Vodafone £30+ internet 18 month contract with an amazing and unlocked FREE phone (worth £400). The lady was helpful, polite, professional and made sure I totally understood what I was signing up for. She even gave me the cancellation numbers for the phone care and tech help lines without me asking! I believe these add-ons are Vodafone products, so I appreciated that.

My phone arrived by Royal Mail special delivery next day as promised, although right on the 1 pm deadline - but that's Royal Mail's issue. However, around noon I contacted customer services to track my order and got fantastic help, quickly.
Along with the phone came a cardboard wallet containing several sheets of paper detailing every contractual aspect I can think of. Interestingly, it even contained details of how to claim cashback, were it relevant. The cashback claim page does state clearly which bill is for which month. In addition to the paperwork, if you type in e2save helpdesk, there is a whole and very detailed page telling you exactly how to claim.

The phone was immaculate, the extras I ordered were also there. I was delighted.

The Negatives

The screen protector was £5.99. When it came it was one sheet of plastic not cut to size - my screen has rounded edges, there's no way it will stay on for long. Two wipes came with it. That, to me is very poor value for money. I would suggest you don't bother buying it, get it on Amazon for a quid if you want a screen saver. (I was being lazy.)

The SIM card didn't work. No service. I was porting my number from Orange, however, and was told by my helpful lady that the porting would be live on Monday (phone arrived on Friday). But she did say that I should have a temporary number until then. I didn't.
Back on the phone to customer services - another polite person, who said Vodafone needed to activate the SIM but hadn't. Lady put me straight through to Vodafone.
Vodafone (tiny bit grumpy that I hadn't gone straight to them for my contract, but tough, they don't have the Hero).
Now, Vodafone say that e2save had taken the PAC code but that they hadn't done anything with it.

He then told me that it would probably take "ages - more than just a few days" for it to be sorted out. he suggested that I just change my number. He told me that the SIM I had would never work and that I needed a new one. And he told me that I couldn't have a temporary number. I don't know if any of that is true. I also should mention that my call happened on the Monday morning, so maybe if I had waited for another few hours, I might have got my phone number, as e2save had said. But I didn't. Too hasty.

Overall, I am really impressed with e2save. I would advise potential cashback customers to find that website and really read it. Put the dates in your calendar to send your bills in and make sure you understand what you have to do. It really is well explained in there.
I think the SIM issue is possibly not e2save's fault, but maybe someone can illucidate. I had a pleasant experience and would recommend them.
