Where to begin with this excellent machine from a great company? We have 2 E-Machines in the house, both different models numbers. (The 810 is the other one) both have been excellent value for money, at the middle end of the market, and very reliable in use. Never have they let us down yet.
Specs for the 770 are: 2.4 ghz Pentium 4 processor, 80 GB harddrive. 256 MB ddr Ram (This is it's only let down, though not overly so) It is fine for almost all tasks set to it. Just a little laggy sometimes with online gaming, but again, not overly so. Yes, I could add another stick of RAM, and I guess I probably will do sometime. It comes with a GForce 4MX 440 card as standard. Separate DVD and CDR drawers, another nice advantage, better than having both built into one. I can think of many reasons to have them separate.
This machine has no fewer than 6 USB ports, 2 at the front, a nifty little front cover opening allows USB and mic/headphones to plug in the front, making it easy to access some more often used items. Not having to scrabble around the floor, pulling out the tower anytime I need to plug in the simple things, is an advantage. It has a snazzy green glow back light around the on/off button, which is prominently incorporated into the design.
The tower is a sleek, sophisticated silver grey and black design, smaller than those tall lumbering ones you usually see with the el cheapo's. Another thing worth mentioning is, it is so quiet. It runs on a whisper. I really like this machine.
The keyboard is in matching silver grey and black and is extra wide with the added quick internet buttons, which I admit are not really needed, this is more a gimmick feature than a useful accessory, and only adds to the bulk size of the keyboard. But it is comfortable to use.
The mouse is what you would expect, a cheap one, though it does have the centre wheel, if like me you use an optical, or you have a preferred mouse, this doesn't matter anyway.
At PC World ithe tower complete with keyboard and mouse was £590. Not a bad price considering the graphic card and features that were standard. Not many of the low or middle range have GForce cards as standard, and though it is an old card now, I still trust GForce.
Overall, I enjoy using this machine and would definitely buy another E-machines product.
