Advantages: Small mini ATX, upgrades to 933Mhz Disadvantages: No AGP slot/ two USB 1.0 only/ memory limit
...In reply to this gentlemans' review of the eMachineeTower, my own first computer was, and still is, an eTower 700, with 700Mhz Celeron, a budget CPU in a budget PC. I paid $600USD plus back in 2000. Came with Windows ME, then the latest OS and pre installed with MS' Works and AOL free trial. I still use AOL to this day but hopped onto Wifi as well.
I noted some things I take issue with all the time, He mistakes Memory in the PC for the HardDrive, and no computer has USB port attached to the harddrive. People blame problematic memory or chipsets, and I hasten to add the largely faulted power supply with emachines directly, they use OEM brands for these.
Because you buy it pre-assembled, you are entitled to refunds and servicing of course. Speed issues result from space within the drive, and memory limit issues. 256MB is good...

Advantages: Errrrrrrrr..... price Disadvantages: Noisy, slow, hangs up mysteriously
...It was about ten months ago when I finally got my first home PC – we had a baby on the way and I was getting a digital camera for Christmas, so putting two and two together I paid a visit to my local PC World.
I had a budget in mind of £700 to £800 – all I really needed was something for general use, storing photos, surfing the net, etc. The sales assistant advised me to go for the e-machines model; I hadn’t heard of them but he assured me they were all the rage in the States.
I decided to go for the e-tower, 733 Mhz Celeron processor, 15Gb memory, 64 Mb RAM. This also included a Lexmark Z22 printer, a HP 2100C scanner and a workstation. The full package cost me £750.
Installation was easy, but the first thing I noticed upon boot-up was the excessive whirring noise of the hard drive. I use PC’s daily...

Advantages: PRICE,WINDOWS ME, EASY TO SET UP,USB AND GAME PORT CAN BE PLUGGED IN FROM THE FRONT. Disadvantages: NO RESET BUTTON.
...After getting by with an ageing computer, for many a year, I decided to invest a miserly £490 on an ETOWER 600 DVD from EMACHINES from PC World (without the monitor) with an Intel Celeron processor, 64mb ram, 15gb hard drive, 12x dvd, 3d graphics and 56k modem.
The salesman said that I would notice a hell of a difference with my new computer compared with my old 486 and indeed he was right! I have read indifferent reports about this computer in the magazines but I am pleased as Punch with mine. The computer looks good, has good clear instructions, and worked straight away as soon as it was first plugged in except that one of its tiny speakers was not working. Luckily I had some other larger speakers to plug in so that problem was soon "sorted." I have not found it necessary to phone manufacturers support.
One of the many...
