I have been a member of EBAY for almost a year now and, in that time, I have successfully launched a full time bookselling business online. If I had tried to sell my wares locally, my buyers would have been very limited. My rent would have been high. I live in Sparta, Tennessee, US, and books on Traveling The Yukon aren't in high demand around here. Neither are books about Japanese Farmers. But on EBAY, the whole world is my buyer and so I sell the Minnesota books, the Japanese books, and even books about very specified English counties. My buyers are global. ~~~~~

EBAY offers an easy-to-navigate site for both buyers and sellers. As a seller, I am able to view my items account with up-to-the-minute bid money totals from my buyers. EBAY also offers a ratings system for both buyers and sellers and it serves as a great barometer for another's honesty. I have over 220 Positive Feedbacks and not one Negative or Neutral. I value my customers and it shows. I represent myself honorably and it shows. ~~~~~

If a bidder backs out, they will receive Negative Feedback from a seller OR if the seller misrepresents a product, a buyer may also tell about that. It is a self policing system that works. There are, of course, poor merchants and patrons everywhere, not just online. But they don't stay around at EBAY for very long. EBAY will close any account which takes advantage of consumers. All other EBAY members are alerted to dishonor through the feedback system. ~~~~~

If you have always wanted a little shop, let EBAY be your sidewalk window. I have been able to quit my full time job and support myself from my EBAY "online bookstore". The titles in my shop are ever changing but the customer list is growing larger every minute.

Sorry, but you didn't really tell me anything about the site. Layout, navigation, categories, payment security etc etc.

Good opinion -- more detail about the site functions would be helpful.
