On-line auctions haven't really caught on in this country have they? Not if the rather puny efforts of Ebay's attempts at a UK site are anything to go by anyway. The US site, however is almost overwhelming in the truly enormous array of stuff out there. I've bought many many times and my one caveat would be that if something looks too good to be true then it probably is. I've only been ripped off once though (because I didn't follow my immediately preceeding advice!) and while Ebay weren't brilliant at sorting it out and paying compensation, they did come through in the end. The experience still left me about £30 out of pocket though, so it does pay to be careful. While there are some bargains out there, the main attraction for me is the range of goods on offer which it's just not possible to get in this country. And if what you want is not there today, it may well be tomorrow - stuff moves pretty fast in the Ebay world.
