Why do I say that? Two reasons:
1. Although they do have some good items for auction, you have to specifically search for them. If you just browse through their items, you will find hundreds of "trash" items.
2. EBay (in common with most other on-line "auction" sites) do NOT hold the items being sold. Nor do they collect payment from the winning bidder. This obviously can lead to fraud, and misrepresentation, such as the seller who (through clever wording) managed to sell a Playstation 2 box for several hundred dollars. And, as I have found out, winning bidders who don't bother to pay for what they have bid for.
Having said all that, I will admit that, of a bad bunch, EBay is probably one of the best on-line auction sites, and does have a great variety of goods for sale. When I want to visit an on-line auction, it is usually EBay.
Summary: Really EBay (and other such sites) are doing nothing more than providing the muddy field for a large international car boot sale!
