I discovered ebay a few months ago and after seeing a few things that i quite fancied started bidding for things.
I lost a couple of auctions through price but then started getting wise to peoples moves. They'd sit there till near the end and then block you out with a huge high bid amount. Now i've started winning auctions but this is where the danger starts coming in.
It's so damned addictive! Be very wary of getting hooked though with ebay or any of the other auctions sites. If you really want something shop around a few of the auction sites on the web cos you'll no doubt find it cheaper elsewhere.
You can really start chalking up debts to yourself at ebay but overall I do think the site is great for finding stuff you really want. And of course its a way to get rid of the stuff clogging up your attics.
You should be aware of some sellers though throughout ebay and alike with what's known as reserve prices. Why the hell do they have these things. Just start your auction at the minimum price your prepared to accept and be done with it.
So many sellers start at 1 pound to get you involved but so often just plod through and dont sell because the reserve prices are around £10.
Keep an eye on the ratings of people and do check their ratings as well for follow up purposes. Some people do get bad ratings and its worth noting down.
Overall - go to the auction sites for a bargain but make sure you have good will power to stop your debts.

A decent opinion on auction sites in general - what about eBay in particular? BTW a little hint on auctions - find the smaller/lesser-known groups and things will often sell for their reserve. Alternatively, if they don't go for their reserve, they may be re-submitted with a lower/no reserve.
