Auctions are one of the ceapest places to buy thing online (if you are looking for second hand that is). Ebay has everthing from cars to books. Allthough i have never orded anything myself it looks prety staight forward and easy. Looking around this site i have found severeal bargains. If you want something that is not on this site it must be something that isn't that popular.
The biggest let down of most auction sites is the delivery afterwards. Most of them require you to pay the seller then the seller sends the item. maybe it is just me but isn't paying a compleate stanger a bit risky.
I recomend going to this site if you are after a bargain but not for anything else. If the product you want is not there it might be the next day which is one of the good points with auctions.
A wee bit more info would go down a treat! You should try and use a spell checker too - If you update this at any time let me know and I'll re-read and re-rate you :) Nicola
I'm sorry to rate this 'FH' but I think I'm being pretty generous. You tell me or anyone nothing about eBay - how it works, what makes it so popular, the advantages, the drawbacks etc etc. The opinion you have written could be used for any and all Auction sites. By the way as a member of eBay myself and two or thre other auction sites, the point you make about 'sending a stranger money in the hope he sends the goods' is valid. BUT Thats the whole idea of the 'feedback' system on eBay and yahoo and amazon auctions. You can see if the member - buyer or seller - is trustworthy. The other option, of course, is for you, the seller, to send the goods and wait to be paid. Now if YOU are the seller and your buyer is in the USA, what are you going to do if after having sent that valuable item, you are not paid. You can hardly pop round and knock on his door. Myself, as a seller, I have had a number of buyers who have never paid - as a buyer myself, I recently sent a cheque to someone in Lowestoft for an item - two months later - no communication, cheque's been cashed, nothing received - so I know it from both sides.

A useful site that should be used with caution. Maureen
