I was just reading fords opinion on Ebay and just thought I'd have to point out that aswell as buying stuff for cheap on there, you can also make a decent amount of money from the site too.
I've been trading on Ebay for about six months and have made some ever helpful extra cash. I first started off on Yahoo auctions and did OK but then discovered Ebay. The only difference is Yahoo is free and Ebay you have to pay to advertise your auctions. Ebay is however a lot bigger.
To trade basically all you have to do is type in the descrpition of your item and upload a photo (if you want) then list it. It only costs at the least 15p but you do get it back when your items sell. Your bill is settled at the end of the month.
People from all over the world can look so you may even have some foreign buyers.
My top tips are:
* Don't put prices on that are too high - no one will buy. If something is worth a lot of money, it WILL sell.
* Try looking at car boot sales for cheap things then list them on Ebay (I've made money from finding the likes of transformers and power rangers there!)
* Do a search on completed items to get an idea of how much your item is worth.
* Keep your customers happy - keep in contact with them.
I hope this helps anyone who is thinking of signing up to Ebay. If I have missed anything (and I know I probably have) there is help and FAQ on the site. Thanks.

Actually this is more helpful than many eBay ops I've read. Like you, I sell items on eBay, having begun on Amazon and Yahoo auction sites. The fact that I was put off initially because of the listing fee, is probably why others have the same thoughts. I could list 50 items on Amazon/Yahoo and if they sell, fine, if not, its cost me nothing. If I list on eBay it will cost be 15p a time this £7.50 if nothing sells - BUT Because eBay is the biggest Auction site, much does sell. Once you get around to looking at the site and seeing what sells, then you can make money. I have made excellent use too of the occasional eBay free listing days. Especially if you have a lot of items already to load up using 'mister lister'. To date, I've been using eBay for just over 6 months, have over 70 pieces of positive feedback (probably less than half the total sales I've made) and had just a handful of time wasters/backout buyers.
Advantages: An easy way to sell your unwanted goods from the comfort of your own home and to bag a bargain Disadvantages: Timewasters who win your auctions and dont pay, scammers and high fees
