I signed up to Ebay.co.uk about a month ago. It's free to join, and it only takes a few minutes to complete.

Now i am addicted to the site, it's just brilliant. There are lots of sections to choose from and look at what people are selling. It is a good way of getting rid of stuff you don't want for money, and it's good for buying things you need.

I usually look in the football section (being a mad footy fan), and i've bid for quite a few things, football shirts mainly, but i've also bid for a couple of football programmes, that i was missing out of my collection. I was the highest bidder for an England shirt (£11.50), so i sent my cheque off a few days ago. And i was the highest bidder for quite an old Leeds Utd shirt (for my collection) for £5.50. Now i have received both of these shirts, in very good condition.

I have also put quite a few things up for sale (football shirts & CD's). I've already sold 4 things, got three cheques and sent the goods off, and i'm waiting for 1 cheques.

It does cost to put an item up for sale:

Opening Value Listing Fee
£0.01 - £4.99 = £0.15
£5.00 - £14.99 = £0.30
£15.00 - £29.99 = £0.60
£30.00 + = £1.25

Once you are the highest bidder or sold something, Ebay send an e-mail to let you know, then you've got to get in contact (by e-mail) to the other party and decide whats going to happen (e.g. if you've sold an item, e-mail the other party, let them know how much the cheque (or other method of payment) will be and tell them where to send the cheque, also don't forget to ask them to include their address details.

Overall i think Ebay.co.uk is excellent!

Ebay is the best auction site because of their early entrance and greate exposure. But technically and in term of policy, they are terrible. The latest "no linking to other sites/competing site" policy is very anti-compeitition and the 2 hours down time on Friday can be annoying.
