Hi. My name's Marcus and I'm a student in Liverpool. I'm new here so I'm still learning, but I hope to make some friends, help people out and not buy any more stuff that I don't need or want!

I admit it, I like Gina G’s "Oh Ah just a little bit" suicide Eurovision attempt. I heard it on the telly, and just couldn’t get it out of my head. I looked in every music shop I could think of, and the assistants burst out laughing.
I was going out of my mind, when I was recommended by a friend to try eBay, as he had found loadsa hard to get hold of CDs there dirty cheap. And so you can imagine my joy when I found 3 lots all for Gina G, with a starting price of £1. I won the auction, paid the fair P&P, and the item was with me 5 days after posting the cheque off.
What’s more, eBay have a cast iron promise that buyers are able to claim a refund if the item is not what it was described, or it is not sent out.
And so, a Gina G single and 3 Miss Marple videos later (it gets worse doesn’t it?!), I decided to have a go myself.
My house is now the most clutter-free it has ever been, and I have £150 in the bank to show for it.
I’ve sold everything from CDs, videos, books, magazines, CD ROMS…
The P&P is paid for by the bidder (usually), and the fees charged are the lowest I’ve found. You pay 1 insert fee for each item (15p for goods starting under £5, then 30p ect.), and a set percentage of the end price.
Payment is quick and easy also. You can either put a card on file so each month your account is automatically debited, or Pay and Go. The later option is no more expensive, but the balance cannot exceed £15, and must be paid in full either by cheque, PO or one off card payment when your monthly invoice is e-mailed to you. And make sure you pay it – the interest they charge adds up!
Your backed up every step of the way both as a buyer and as a seller, with a really easy to use site. Feedback is left so you know who your dealing with, and a star rating is in place. Better rated and loyal customers get privileges, like free pictures to enhance your auctions, and tools to make it even quicker.
If you do visit, don’t forget to check me out – 7sefton, and HAPPY BIDDING!

My lastest auction win arrived this morning...a Mercury Rev CD for just over a fiver. I often forget to check ebay when I'm looking for something. Cheers, J.

Nice, personal story-like opinions, but as Phil says below, it just needs a bit more info on how ebay works. Us ebay 'old hands' were all a bit naive at first and for anyone just starting out on ebay, ideally they would turn to a top Ciao opinion and hope to find out all the whys and wherefors. How much does is cost to sell, what items can I sell, whats the best way to sell things, whats the difference between listing on ebay.com and ebay.co.uk. Then there is buying and how do you pay for something, what's the safest/quickest way. Is ebay safe etc etc. Cheers anyway and Goodluck

This is a great review of a site that, personally, I've always been a little weary of, what with the overhanging question of whether the buyer will send you the money or the seller's goods will be in perfect condition. Your excellent opinion has put my mind to rest though. Thanks :)
Advantages: Like a giant car boot sale, without ever leaving the house Disadvantages: Has an air of riskiness about it, though you could choose sellers with very high feedback for safety's sake

Review of ebay.co.uk
Advantages: Finding things you will almost never see in a shop again! Disadvantages: Having to wait to see if you win it and then waiting for delivery!
