Ebay is not by any means the first of its kind or the only one. Not only has ebay as a company stretched far and wide with various off springs such as the Americanised half.com and now the newly available site to people in the united kingdom ebay.co.uk but also other auction sites such as Yahoo Auctions and Ebid are around.

Ebay takes a different approach to most auction sites online. Unlike them specializing in certain categories ebay boasts to be able to sell and buy anything. This is no wonder why it has millions of users worldwide continuously listing items and undoubtedly this makes for an excellent range of items.

In addition the Music section in particular is second to none and Yahoo Auctions is possibly the only site that comes even close to matching the superior ebay in this category. Here you can find anything from Hip Hop and R 'n' B to Country and Western Music.

The layout of the actual site is quite simplistic and this is great for several reasons. It means that it is more aesthetically appealing, especially when one may have to wait for hours for a final bid to come in. It also has a superior search engine and one can choose to search individually through items or list them according to when the auction will end.

To sell one must have a credit card and unlike Yahoo Auction and other sites alike you have to unfortunately pay for this privilege. This undoubtedly will deter some folk and the site seems much better for buyers than for sellers.

Ebay also have a strict policy on loyalty and false advertising, which is great as it protects the user against fraudulent characters or fake or broken goods.

All in all Ebay is an outstanding site, I would conclude that it is definitely better for buyers than it is for those wanting to sell mainly because of the fee required to sell that other sites don't require. For sellers I would gravely recommend visiting qxl or Amazon Auctions. But in retrospect it is still very cheap, perhaps a few dollars at the most, and with the option of picture and homepage advertisement.

Ebay and me have never got on due to technical problems- see my op on them- but still I do enjoy the site in itself and can bid on items if not sell them!

Not quite enough detail about how the site works to merit a VH rating. I agree with you about the music sections though - a fantastic range of things to browse through! :O)
