You know, you have to hand it to the Americans because there are a lot of fantastic sites that have come from over there: Ebay and Amazon being just two of them (although I do use the UK sites of both to save on p+p). Ebay is an auction website.

You sign up as a member which only takes 5 minutes and you bid on an item which you would like to buy. You can usually pay through cheque and postal order and also 'Paypal' (Electronic credit card transfer) which means you receive you items a lot more quickly.

Your details are sent in a secure manner to the seller and they will send your purchase ASAP. You also have the opportunity to become a seller. You must enter your credit card details and write out adverts (using HTML if you like) which display the items you wish to sell. People will bid on your item and then pay you in the same ways mentioned above. After any kind of transaction is completed between two people, you can leave each other feedback comments-using either positive, neautral and negative. Try not to get too many negatives though-or people might decide not to deal with you!

I became a member on the 7th November 2000 and since then have become totally attached to it. Last Christmas I asked my friends what they would like as gifts. One said she would like Moulin Rouge on DVD which I bought from Ebay for just £2.75 + £1.00p+p. High street shops would have charged me at least £15 for the same item. I did the same thing with all my presents and saved about £150 in total.

People say to me ‘Don’t you feel a bit unsafe buying from members of the public?’, but the truth is that I have never had a problem with a seller on Ebay and when I have sold items on Ebay (from which I have made quite a bit of cash), I have never had a problem with a buyer either. And if you would like to use Ebay just as a seller, always remember that whatever you don’t want, there is always someone out there who does want it.

Never have to buy anything at full price again, just save your money and go straight to Ebay!

I couldn't agree with you more Stacey. I now buy all my bday and xmas presents off ebay! Why buy from shops anyway when you get them cheaper online. Luckily I havent had any bad sellers...YET!!! But there are a lot of non paying bidders! good op :)

Can see you've added to this so have up-rated you accordingly. Another tip if you don't mind, is to make your op easier to read by spacing it out better. Hope that helps :) Fiz
