I first started using ebay about a year ago when I first got the internet at home. I quickly became addicted as my daughter was only three weeks old at the time and there was so may bargains on there!! I bought almost everything she has from there, from clothes to baby bath seats and toys. Even better, once she has finished with them I can sell them again on ebay!!!
So apart from the baby things I have sold again on ebay, I sold all my 'junk' (one mans junk is another mans treasure!!!) when I moved house and the extra money comes in really handy (obviously!)
However there as always a risk of getting your account hijacked, or an attempt to get your account hijacked. This happened to me and someone listed a £500 item for sale and I had paid for the listing. With all the trimmings (as you pay extra for the listing to be highlighted, blod, extra pictures etc) and this had the works. It cost me £10 for this listing. I emailed ebay about it a couple of times with no reply, I followed the advice on the help pages and ended te listing early. Ebay phoned me at home as their emails hadn't been reaching me as the person hijacking my account had changed my email address. The £10 also was refunded to my account. It is important to change your account password frequently to increase the chances of preventing this from happening.
There is also a risk of buying falsely listed items or having a non-paying bidder being the highest bidder on one of your listings. Ebay customer services will do their best to help resolve matters but it is encouraged to try to resolve things between each other.
There is also a good search facility on thi site, and as they sell millions of things, you can search in either of their many categories.
I think ne down side is that if you are not making a living from this and are just selling things you do not need any more, as I do, the listing fees and final evaluation fees are quite expensive.
All in all though, it is a very handy site, and well established so you know there are great measures in avoiding scams like many internet sites can do.

I love Ebay too & have picked up some great bargains :-)

I have always been a bit wary of auction sites, but have friends who regularly use them. The account hijacking sounds screy - does that happen often? HOw do they get your details? Maybe I'll give it a go one day... Andrew
