I'm not going to bore you with a summary of all the facts that several dozen people have already written about. I'll give my opinion.
If selling on eBay is anything like buying, I'm going elsewhere!
Since joining about three months ago, I have been sold two counterfeit games, had problems receiving one item and was insulted when my PayPal wouldn't work (I managed to pay the next day).
Thankfully, on all these occasions, I was refunded in full.
EBay is a good concept turned sour by the sheer number of scammers and slack sellers. It's to be expected really, but even when you are really careful, you still end up with problems.
There are genuine sellers on there, but it's incredibly difficult to know who they are. The feedback doesn't help with things like games - the countereit game seller had 100% feedback on numerous sales.
I like to think I am now more aware of the signs of dodgy dealers and give them an even wider berth then before.
I'd like to be able to sell on eBay, but the site has so many items being sold on there that to make yours stand out while paying as little as possible, is very difficult.
I don't think eBay should charge listing fees - they should just take a percentage of the final selling price (which is alredy quite high and complicated to understand in some cases).
If you want to sell your items, I suggest using the new site iBootSale which is like an online car boot sale. Because it is in its infancy and needs new members before it can really start to take off, it's free to use at the moment.
Once it becomes more popular, you will need to pay for your pitch and then you can list as many items as you want for a certain period of time (90 days).
If you're happy with the listing and final value fees on eBay and if you really want to use it to hunt down that bargain, then go ahead, but please take care.

Fair enough review but do not be put of selling. I have done nearly 500 deals, buying and selling and only encountered 1 problem buyer. Compared with auction houses it is a really cheap way to sell, I only except cheques and have them clear before dispatch. You can see my ebay ID poshtroika to sence my feedback. Nothing better than buying a TROIKA LOVE PLAQUE at local Car Boot for £2.50 then selling on Ebay for £1750.00. So do try. Regards Steve (poshtroika)

good review, yeh i know a few people who have been had with the dodgey games, but i think there is a lot of people who will sell you the items with no problems thats why its still going strong.
i might check out that boot sale website you mentioned.
keep it up, andy
Advantages: Pick up great bargains, make some extra cash, goods are normally sent to you within 2-3 days, You chat to other users of the ebay community, Disadvantages: ebay sellers fees (they can really amount up over time)
