I registered on ebay 2 years ago and absolutely love it. I started of just bidding on small items such as books and shoes etc. The satisfaction of winning something is so addictive!
My husband and I cleared out our loft and decided to sell some things, clothes, books and DVD's mainly. We made quite a bit of money out of things that we didn't even know we had!
It is true, one mans junk is another mans treasure!
Now, I purchase most of my beauty products from ebay stores, and also pick up some designer clothes for my children. When they have outgrown them I just sell them on there again! It is a fantastic way to save and make money.
I have now started to specialise what I sell. The trick is to research, research, research.
You need to see what sells and for what, also the best way to present it in pictures etc.
It is possible to find unbelievable bargains on ebay, there is always something that has slipped everyone elses eyes!
The downsides are of course the fees. I don't think the Paypal fees are to bad, but the fees to list items and the final selling fees can add up quite quickly, so I tend to pay them off regularly.
Also where there are people there are problems. I think some of these can be avoided though.......
If you are buying, only pay by Paypal if possible. This will give you buyer protection and PROOF of payment. Also ask the seller to send recorded if you pay the extra, it is worth it as I have had people not send me an item, which is so annoying.
Same really if you are selling. Send all your items recorded, this will cover your item up to £34. If it is worth more than this, send Special delvery. It is worth it so you know the buyer has recieved the item.
Also you need to be aware of fake items.
Ebay is great especially for stay at home mums like me too make a bit of cash.
The trick is I think is to be careful. If something looks a bit dodgy, don't buy it!!!!
