Ebay!

What is Ebay?

Ebay is an online buying and selling auction site.
Almost anything you want can be found on the site ranging from Tv's to beds, and even cars.

What is the background information on ebay?

Ebay is an american internet company.
There are two main site:
www.ebay.com (worldwide and america)
and
www.ebay.co.uk (The english site)
Ebay has established itself in over 30 other countries and also owns the two other popular companies paypal and skype.
site was founded in San Jose, California, on September 3, 1995, by French-born Iranian computer programmer Pierre Omidyar.
The first transaction made on ebay was a laser pointer for $14.83.
This astonished Pierre Omidyar which influenced him to take the site further.

How to get started?

To start on ebay you need to first sign up, this is a very easy and quick process, simply writing in your email address and your ebay password and username for future reference, these simple steps take no longer than five minutes, then your able to start buying or selling.
(members must be 18 or over)

How to I pay or receive money for Items iv bought or sold?

There are only a few permitted ways of paying on ebay these are:

PayPal
Credit Card
Personal or Cashier's Checks
Money Orders
Escrow
Bank to Bank Wire Transfer

The most popular method of paying is through paypal, paypal is a safe website that is connected with ebay so buyers and sellers and quickly and safely transfer money between each other. To sign up to pay pal you have to visit
www.paypal.com
Once you have signed up its connected to your ebay so your buyers can send you your money through to your paypal, once the money is in your paypal you can view it by signing into paypal, once you have over £5.00 in your paypal you can transfer this amount into your bank account.
Once the other ebayer has sent their money to you, you can see their address on payoal so you can print off a postage label through the royal mail which costs, because of the postage charges, or you can take your parcel to the post office and pay there.

How do I buy/sell?

selling: To sell an item you can click the top button which says "sell" on your main page of your ebay page.
You can also add pictures to show the product you are selling, the first picture is free but the next one cost 12p, before you submit your item there will be a small cost you have to pay to make this a sale.

Buying: You can views millions of products, but before you click and place a bid you can check to see if the ebayer has put a "buy it now" option, this is normally priced higher than the auction price, but it is useful if you want to buy it, instead of waiting for the auction to end.
When you enter your bid into the "bid" part, after you have submitted it, you will be asked to enter a maximum bid, this is to prevent you from getting out bid.

Top tips:

feedback- Make sure you check the buyers feedback before purchasing any items, they may not be a trusted seller.

Postage- Check how much the seller is offering their postage for because you may not be willing to pay that much on top of the purchase itself.

changed your mind- If you accidentally place a bid or change your mind, you will have to contact the seller and withdraw your bid through ebay, buy click on the community help button in the top right hand corner.

you have no feedback- after buying and selling you are asked to leave feedback on the person who you did business with, this is very personal and can affect whether or not other ebayer member deal with you again because you have "bad or good feedback"

check every detail- Make sure if your buying something, that you read everything on the page even the small print, some people can sell false things, and make sure you check whether or not the products are new or old depending on what you are looking for.

Anyway I have used ebay for many years, and its been a great experience buying new and old products for very reasonable products.
I hope you can share this experience with me and the other millions of ebayers, good luck!

summary: Yes ebay is the best auction site, with many products on offer! With a easy bright layout....and a very good help system..
