Ebay. Everyone talks about how wonderful, or annoying, ebay is/can be. I have to admit that I thought ebay was a great thing when I was looking for a prom dress. Got a nice red ball gown for £58. However, I've found getting electrical items can be a bit of an issue. I was looking for a new mobile and I found a brand new one with loads of accessories for £116. The problem was that the chargers and phones had a tendency to be faulty according to the buyers. Also, there was no guarantee it would even work over here in the UK. Another thing was that it was coming from Hong Kong and so the parcel could get delayed at customs and I would have to have paid the customs fee.
Layout & Design
I think the layout and the design of the ebay website is quite good. They've put the adverts for products and the columns in the right places and they've used bright colours so some of their products grab your attention immediately.
Navigation
I find it quite difficult to get around the site at times. There are so many sub headings (eg Mobile & Home Phones, followed by Mobile phones then the brands etc.) and sometimes it takes a while to get a list of products that you are looking for. The page keeps refreshing itself everytime you click an option on the left hand side columns and after a while this gets quite irritating if you want to select more than one option.
How fast is this website?
Its not super fast and it isn't extremely slow. The whole thing with the page refreshing itself it can take a while for the next page to come up and sometime my browser decides to be unresponsive. It can take up to a minute for the final page to come up (bit irritating if you are trying to do some last minute bidding!)
Quality of the content
Some of the stuff on ebay are tatty and shouldn't really be sold on there. I've come across some people trying to sell electronics in really bad condition and stained clothes, it's really not nice to come across things like this. On the other hand, you have registered businesses selling their items on ebay for a low price. I bought my prom dress off ebay and I was really pleased when I received it. To say it was £58, it was top quality. I bought some other great items too, for a reasonable price (including shipping prices). You just had to search carefully and when you see an item you want, check the feedback rating on the seller's page and consider if it's a reasonable price for what it's worth.
Range of Services/Products
There are definitely a good range of products up for grabs. You can have anything from kitchenware to clothing, electricals to cars. I'd be a little wary when buying electricals and cars, as there are some fakes on there and people trying to sell damaged goods. Like products, there are a variety of different businesses and sellers on ebay. Just search and find the top sellers so you are guaranteed a good service when purchasing an item.All in all, the site isn't too bad. You just have to be careful how you part with your money and who you give it to. So far, I've had no dodgy dealings and I've left positive feedback for all the sellers I've used. If you are unsure about purchasing something online, it's probably for the best that you just buy it in a shop. I wouldn't recommend buying anything like TV's or laptops on here as you may not have the warranty on the items like you would have in the shop. Some sellers aren't happy to refund, replace or except returned items so if you want to buy an item like this check the seller's listings.

Agree a good site for selling - but i've bin stung and lost nearly £100 buying from this site, so not as keen as some on singing its praise - well written review though x hev
Advantages: May make your eBay life easier, may introduce you to eBay Disadvantages: I don't give you much information about the website itself. Sorry.
